I hesitated about eating at a golf club but this was a pleasant surprise. The non-member restaurant is café style but with view over the bay. Generous portions. The scallops and mussel dishes were superb, as was the venison (although black pudding mash a bit heavy for me). With a little more finesse (drink information, service and food) this place could really put the wind up other well known eateries nearby.

The Dory Bistro & Gallery serves great, yet affordable, food with a lot of the local Fife and Perthshire food treasures on the menu. Lobsters, langoustines, and other shellfish landed less than 40 metres from our front door in the harbour, fish from St Mo
A small bistro located beside the harbour in Pittenween. Very welcoming and the food is fantastic, can highly recommend the mussels and lobster.

This is not a place to come if you want to have a conversation. The place is very crowded, reservations absolutely essential. The tables are very close together and it seems popular with families. Our group last night finally gave up and ate in silence. However, the food is quite good--we had everything from fajitas to sea bass and all were excellent. We were amazed at how quickly the food came to us--the fastest service we experienced in three weeks in Scotland. The waitress encouraged us to order seafood--she said it was what they are known for. Those that did order it, said it was excellent. I had two appetizers for my entree and the calamari was unusual--very large rings, but good. The portions are quite large and the desserts were wonderful.

The Grange Inn is a lovely 17th Century converted farmhouse. The Restaurant serves modern Scottish cuisine using the freshest of local produce available.
We arrived without a reservation at lunchtime, although busy. A good table found for us. An excellent restaurant of quality with an imaginative chef, small but perfectly formed menu and a good wine list. Our food was excellent, service good (but a bit of training would not go amiss). Enjoyable, can highly recommend.
A family-run business, we believe greatly in locally sourced ingredients, high quality and seasonal produce for our menus. Looking for a quick lunch, a cosy meal for two or a night out to celebrate? We can help! Light bites, kids menu, freshly cooked riso
If you are looking for a hotel with air conditioning and all the modern comforts look elsewhere. If you are happy to stay in a pub where you keep the windows open at night for fresh air (it was unseasonly warm), where the locals sing and dance on the footpath outside late at night, and where they know your name and your drink order after just a short time - stay here. There are no meals in the evenings, but breakfast is very good (the freshly cooked omlette is lovely). Parking is in one of the public car parks a short walk away. Our group had 4 of the 8 rooms and each of the other couples were as happy as we were. Anstruther is a very nice village and it is well worth a visit - and if you are happy to stay in a pub, stay at the Royal.Thank you for your review - glad you enjoyed your stay and hope the rest of your trip was as enjoyable as your stay at the Royal - the place where everyone knows your name. Thank you once againIrvin
