Based in Hipperholme a village in the Calderdale area of West Yorkshire, located between the towns of Halifax and Brighouse comes Towngate Brasserie.
Called into this lovely little restaurant last Thursday, we received a warm welcome from the manager who clearly explained the menu options including the mid-week special. My partner chose the mid-week special and chose the salmon which was declared sumptuous. I went for the rib-eye steak cooked medium which received a big thumbs up from me. I canât recommend this restaurant too highly you will need to go check it out yourselves. You wonât be disappointed.

Went on a Friday night with a booked table.Service was attentive without being in your face. My wife started with the chicken cesar salad, which had loads of chicken and was adapted for her allergy. I had the goats cheese salad, which was creamy on a crunchy crustini with lunch very ham. I had the pork belly which was fantastic, beautiful balance to it. My wife had the lobster ravioli, lovely as it was it just had too much salt and missed the balance of black pepper Puddings were fantastic, the dime bar pie is to die for. My cheese n biccies were spot on with sharp cheeses balanced well with the creamy ones

Welcome to Meze Turkish and Greek Restaurant in Brighouse, between Halifax & Huddersfield in West Yorkshire. Here at Meze we combine two fantastic Mediterranean countries delicacies made from age old family recipes but presented with a modern, contemporar
Lunch Menus often involve small portions and limited choice, but not here. £11.95 is an absolute bargain for two courses, especially considering the quality of the food. The Potato Keftedes were crispy, with a soft potato and cheese filling, accompanied by a spicy dip. For my main, the Mixed Kebab was exceptional - perfectly cooked meat, gorgeous fresh salad, with rice and tzatziki on the side. All accompanied by (surprise) complimentary warm Turkish bread, and washed down with an ice cold bottle of Efes. This was a perfect lunch, topped off with good service and decent Turkish music playing in the background. I wished I lived nearer, but I'll definitely be back one day.

GRAND CRU is one of the latest additions to West Yorkshire's dining out scene. The restaurant is independently owned and run by husband and wife, Bernd and Sharon Wolf who recently relocated from Torquay in the South of England to start their new venture
Would never have expected this in Birkenshaw, but the place is fantastic and the food even better. Came with family for a `significant' birthday lunch after travelling from Oxfordshire, and it was well worth it. The owners have created an amazing place, nice staff, lovely food. Some people mentioned slow service. We would say that with food like that, time to relax and really enjoy a totally different gastronomic experience is a luxury to be savoured. Loved it - hope we will be back.

I would rate this restaurant as Good but unfortunately, Trip Advisor do not have a rating for this level. We were looking forward to trying the new revamped Brooks and visited with friends recently. We received a very warm greeting on entering into the bar area from the female owner which immediately made us feel welcome. We weâre asked if we wanted a drink in the bar or go to the table and decided on the latter although there was a great buzz in the bar from people sat at the high tables enjoying a good natter.First impression of the restaurant was that it is no longer the Old Brooks; the new owners have certainly put their mark on this place and these changes have altered the atmosphere of the dining experience (in a good way) which will probably appeal to a much broader age range of clientele. Whilst we enjoyed our pre dinner drinks, we perused the menu deciding on which dishes we would order to share and was a little confused as many of the them were not what we would have thought of as sharing plates. We did notice that most of the surrounding diners ordered a plate each as a starter and then a second plate as a main course and that the only sharing element of the meal were the bowls of side vegetables. We asked the owner if she could advise us on how the sharing thing worked and basically was told that many do order a âstarterâ and then a large plate each for mains which went against the concept of sharing plates. When the first dishes were served the food looked and smelled delicious and I couldnât wait to start eating. We all agreed that the food was good but that only one of the four dishes (gnocchi) leant itself to âsharingâ. The others; pigs cheek with scallop, venison and crab were small portions of well presented plated food which wouldnât sensibly portion up to share unless you reached across the table and took a forkful from the individuals dish. Also, if these were intended for sharing why werenât plates brought to the table to allow this. It was the same with mains, how could a piece of belly pork in the cassoulet and short rib beef be shared without someone playing âmother â and taking the meat off of the bone and cutting it into small portions this surely goes against the concept of the easy sharing platters? Let me say that we all enjoyed the food and sampled some dishes that were new to us but this still felt like a more grown up style of dining rather than the more relaxed way by having a bite to eat and at the same time enjoying a drink and a good natter as is the case with tapas/cicchetti.The biggest disappointment was the wine which just didnât deliver. We ordered the most expensive red, a bottle of Valpolicella at £34 and expected a rich fruity smooth wine however what we got was something that was very lacking being watery and not having any of the richness of a decent Italian red. We are very much into our Italian wines and know a decent one when we taste it but this just didnât cut the mustard. In fact it is unheard of that when the four of us are dining out that we donât go into a second bottle but we truthfully struggled in consuming just the one. The house wine I had as an appetitive was actually as good as the Valpolicella and at the significantly lower price of £20.Overall, we did enjoy our time at The new Brooks but it wasnât the dining experience it promised and therefore left us a little disappointed. We love the concept of sharing but it was neither this or a formal dining event. On a positive note, the food and service was of a good standard.Thank you for your review. We're really pleased to hear you enjoyed the atmosphere and food. Sorry to hear you were disappointed with the wine. Had you mentioned that you were not happy at the time, we would have changed the wine for you. We have a passion for wine and hope our wine list reflects that. We definitely wouldn't like to think that someone had paid for something they thought was of bad quality and did not enjoy. We hope you will return to give us another chance. Many thanks from the Brook's team.

Your family restaurant
If you want the very best lasagne - this is the restaurant for you!. It's so good I find it hard to order anything else! Friends have tried their pizzas, calzone's and pasta dishes and also say they are brilliant. Service is great too. Wine is a bit expensive but nice. Possibly one of the best restaurants in West Yorkshire!!! Love it!

My daughter and new son-in-law recently had their wedding here and I have to say the whole day was an absolute delight. Hubby and I have dined here on numerous occasions and been highly delighted with every aspect of our visit. The wedding day was out of this world from start to finish. The staff at this venue really go out of their way to accommodate every requirement and give the happy couple (and the brides mum!!) memories to treasure. Special mentions must go to several members of staff. Matt the wedding co-ordinator who was one step ahead of us all day and sorted out problems before we were even aware of them! Andrew and Phil the chefs who produce the most amazing meals both for the main meal and the night reception.. The new addition of the pizza oven is awesome and the guests are still talking about how good they were and such a change from the usual hot/cold buffet or sandwiches. Every member of staff we came across provided the highest level of service from the ladies on reception, the breakfast waitress to the bar staff â¦. names too numerous to remember but thanks go to each and every one of you.I would have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful hotel as a wedding venue or as a dining experience for those special occasions
