If the frogs legs were not the best I ever had, I would put 1 star.It is a shame as it is a nice place but the owner and staffs are a disaster! They are not very welcoming and very arrogant . Service was terrible.I order an expensive bottle of champagne who take quite a long time to be served.Once they served it, they decided to take our order(8 persons and 34* outside...)As you can imagine, it was warm. Again take ages to have a few canapés.Starters were not that great but the frog legs were very good even if I don't think the cart curry puree was not appropriate with that traditional french dish.It is not cheap and you do expect better service.I do believe they employed students in the week-end.je suis navrée que vous n'ayez pas passé chez nous un aussi agréable moment que nous aurions souhaité.

First ImpressionsIn this picturesque village the âGeorges Blanc Experience â is a foodie dream. An excellent Hotel, superb restaurants and first class service compliment this culinary hub. On arrival we received a warm friendly welcome and we were shown to our room. The Rooms, Food & ServiceThe rooms were very elegant and comfortable and contained all the comforts of a hotel of this standing and full of George Blanc labels all of which were available from his store in the village. We relaxed by the pool during the day and complimentary water & coffee were available poolside. On our first night we dined in the Bistro and I was very disappointed. The staff were rude and abrupt and very slow with service and the food was reasonable. On the second night we dined in Three star Micheline Restaurant and here the service was excellent from the time we arrived to the time we left. The food was very good, and we enjoyed a faultless evening with good wine recommendations. During the evening Mr Blanc walked the restaurant and spoke with every table, he was a charming guy who was clearly passionate about the food and what the customers thought of their experience. OverallI enjoyed my time here, it was a real treat. The majority of the service was excellent and the experience was outstanding. The village is dedicated to food created by the Blanc family and it was an experience to visit the village. As I departed the hotel Mr Blanc was walking into the hotel and he took the time to walk over to my car and thank me for staying at his hotel. He was a genuine man, very polite and humble. What service and what a gentleman. Service- 8/10The Food- 8/10Value for Money - 7/10. Would I return - Yes

Firstly, Le Saint Lazare is not in Bourg-en-Bresse. It is in a tiny village a few kilometres from Chatillon-Sur-Chalaronne.I was taken here by some colleagues from our office nearby and was initially a bit sceptical about being taken to the middle of nowhere. My only reassurance was that my colleagues were French, like their food, and had told me they come here regularly. They would be unlikely to take me to somewhere too shabby !Whilst LâArbergement-Clemenciat is a proverbial âone-horseâ village, at least the restaurant looked modern from the outside and had an attractive terrace for the summer. Inside, we were escorted to a bright, airy room and sat down to inspect the menu. Drinks soon arrived, although the only beer available was either Leffe Red or Hoegaarden so they brought me a bottle of both ! The wine my colleague ordered was also excellent. Officially I took 2 courses from the 31 euro menu, but I received so much more than that. Firstly, the Amuse Bouche consisted of three separate appetisers before my Foie Gras starter was served. This was delicious and not as rich as you sometimes get. Ample supplies of different types of bread were served during all our courses. My main dish was the Chicken ( Poulet a la crème selon Clarisse ) and this was fabulous. An extra serving was available from the pot it was cooked in, but as I was already starting to feel a bit full this was polished off by one of my colleagues. A cheese board was next to arrive, and I was advised to start from the left as the 6 different cheeses were arranged according to strength, with the most powerful one being on the bottom right. I was able to make my way through the different cheeses until I got to the last one, which was unfortunately far too strong for my liking !Next came dessert, where the âBig Macâ was actually macaroon with ice-cream, and to finish we were all given a little plastic bag with some local chocolate. As we were leaving the chef came from the kitchen to chat with my colleaguesLe Saint Lazare was an incredible find, and it is amazing that such a high quality, good value restaurant is in such a remote location. Tremendous food and excellent service, I look forward to going back

We had a three course gastronomic dinner.Foie gras was plain, with gingerbread and an apple chutney. The gingerbread was bland, and somewhat mushy. The chutney was in fact an apple sauce, with some chunks in it. Main course was a chicken with morels. We received two rather small chicken legs, with 2 morels (and I mean this literally!!!) The sauce was watery, and frankly, the portion was minuscule! To be honest, we felt ripped off by the small number of morels.Dessert was ok, with a strawberry shake, chocolate mousse and a sherbet. Service was very nice, but the table was so poorly situated that the slim waitresses could not pass behind it to serve the tables. Guests ended up constantly having to pass them their plates around the table. Not acceptable! In summary, the meal was not bad, but the portions were too small and the price was a bit steep. I will not return again!

Surprising find. Out of the way, but a lucky parking spot brought us right outside their door. Their bright décor and interesting menu made us wander in. An interesting selection with a good spread in their "menu" (prix fixe), even catering for the vegetarian amongst us (me). The cuisses de grenouille (frogs legs) are to be recommended.
