We were staying for a night in nearby La Garde but the restaurant there was full.Drove back in to Castellane and found this nice wee restaurant just off the town square.Service, food, presentation and wine were all really nice. Reasonably good value for money also.

We had lunch at La Taverne during our three day stay in Castellane. The food was excellent, portion sizes were huge, the prices were reasonable, and the staff were lovely (even tolerating us practicing our French). I'm a huge carnivore and this was the best steak I've ever eaten... Super juicy, super tender, and cooked perfectly medium-rare. The chèvre chaud salad was also fantastic, but if you're ordering a salad as an entree then order one to share - they're enormous!

this place looks lovely. outside garden offers nice sitting area to have lunch..... so we went...... service was already disturb when we entered but hey, holiday so you are relaxed and do not want to comment immediately.... gave us menu and explained that we can have only one plate per person because is two o'clock..... we looked at each other and with a smile ordered one dish per person..... everything that was rought to the table arrived with not a blink of an eye .... just to let us know that they do not care...... food was mediocre and yes, at every question we asked no answer or negative answer ..... yes, beatiful enviroment, you do not need to do much to have customers but would not survive anywere were exist competition and you can choose were to spend money..... simply shame..... if you are ruining what you have as heritage.....

The ambient is simply wonderful, nice little details that really make the place feel cozy and warm. The music was relaxed and beautiful, which made the atmosphere even better. And to top it all off, the food was amazing! Presentation, taste...the meat was cooked perfectly and the sauces were so incredibly tasty...The service was excellent also, we were beyond satisified with everything!

This place is humming with lots of satisfied customers. The evening we went it buzzed with atmosphere. Staff up beat and engaging laughing and joking with customers and flying through the service.With defrul entrecote, great veg, creme brulee was superb. Great to see and experience any establishment that us really on fire. Great Great Great!

We were attending a water trekking activity and decided to have some lunch before, we stumble upon this place and decided to order a sandwich. My sister ordered but mid way through the lady ignored her and started to serve someone else. My mum then ordered and when it came to my turn she started to serve another family ahead of me! I ordered 2 ham baguettes which cost â¬8 when she asked if I wanted a drink I said no Thankyou , to which she immediately said well you can't sit outside! As they did not provide me with a ticket number when I ordered she came out shouting and waving baguettes in everyone's face, i pointed out they were ours 4 times before she handed them over.My whole family were sat there eating and had a drink, she came out and stared shouting at my husband, she also shouted at another couple who had only ordered 1 drink between them and told them to move.We spent around â¬40 in total and she still wouldn't let us sit outside!The lady was very rude and clearly doesn't need our business if she is going to behave like this! Maybe she had a problem with English people(even though we ordered in French), As all the French that walked in had preferentially treatment.Eat elsewhere I know what I would do with the the baguette if I had another chance.

This is just off the main square in Castellane. It looked lovely with tables and chairs with parasols outside in a small courtyard in front of the hotel. We picked our table and were promptly served. 2 of our party ordered pave boeuf which was the days special.It was very difficult to eat and not the best meat. We were not asked how our meal was. Would not eat here again. There also seemed only to be one toilet for all the guests that were eating for both male and female. Not the best.

We spent a wonderful evening at this cosy restaurant in Castellane whilst staying at the Gite de Chasteuil. The service was perfect and the traditional regional cuisine was clearly prepared with love and attention at this family run restaurant.We would definitely return!

Whoever is the chef needs a bit kiss. This restaurant opens at 1900hrs and looks closed until then. We arrived alongside a couple who had a puncture en route..later on the owner was in the yard with an air pump and the offer of a lift if that did not work. What a chap. Anyway for ⬠29 a head we had a meal that cannot be faulted. I am a bit of a Neanderthal but I know good nosh when I see and eat it. I would have taken a photo of the exquisite presentation of the food, but I ate it. Go there, patronise the establishment, and if my experience is the standard you will not be disappointed. There is a lovely dog there who floats around outside, if you tickle her then she is a friend for life.

In the middle of an area that is filled with cramped, 4-star-campsites with entertainment, water slides and everything that comes with them, this nice little campsite is a great place to be! Right on the Route Napoleon, it makes a great stop for motorcyclists!The sanitary is basic, but it's enough. The pitches are spacious, and the view is incredible! The places in the back are the best, they will give you the best sunshine in the evening. The nights can be cold though!Besides the view, the best thing about this place is the bistrot. Great food, drinks, and a great (musical) atmosphere! Run by 3 nice people, who happen to be very motorcycle-minded. Especially Bertrand, although he might harass you about being so stupid not to ride a Ducati...
