Tucked away in the old quarter of Penzance, The Cornish Barn is a rustic restaurant, bar and smokehouse in Penzance serving a wholesome menu with a focus on fresh Cornish produce â all helped along by craft beers and wines from local independent vineyards
We had drinks here one night, and came back the next night for dinner. We loved the warm, cosy decor, good choice of drinks and pretty good food. The only thing that wasnât great was the service; a lot of errors both times, the staff were friendly but lacked professionalism. They forgot to bring menus and to seat us in the restaurant until well after the reservation time, and every drinks order was messed up. All in all, however, we forgave the slapdash service because the ambiance and food made up for it. We would go again if we were in the area.Good evening honeyHenleyonThames,Thank you for your time writing this review.I am happy to hear that you loved the atmosphere of the Restaurant, and I will be sure to pass on your comments about the food on to the kitchen.I am sorry that the service was not to the standards that you wanted. The Terrace Bar & Restaurant is open to everyone, every day from 10am until late for everything from coffee to lunches, afternoon tea, drinks and dinner with a side of sea views. With decking and a conservatory with a retractable roof for sun drenched day
Well it would have been an excellent view if it hadnât been raining heavily! But that aside, we had a table in the outside terrace ( donât worry it is enclosed so you wonât get wet) and we were happy with the service and the food. The chairs were a little hard but providing a blanket at each table for cold legs etc is a nice touch. We all chose fish and chips and were not disappointed. It was busy but then it was raining. This restaurant is open to all but actually sits in the Gael an Mor holiday complex. Although you could walk to the beach, the walk up may be a bit ambitious for most so recommend a car. There is car park but itâs not huge.
