The setting for this restaurant is beautiful, ideal for a romantic lunch or families alike. We had drinks first then had a 3 course lunch and were very impressed. The prices were reasonable, portions sizes very good and there was a wide selection to choose from. The two house specials salted tuna with red beans and the marinated pork roasted in a wood oven with vegetables were fantastic and so pretty to look at. Desserts were unusual, my husband had banana with cheese and I had pitanga ice cream both were very good indeed. Would not hesitate to return. The staff were lovely, friendly, helpful and attentive but not overly so, they were quite happy to let you have a leisurely lunch. Very highly recommended.

This place was recommended by a friend, ordered kebabs filet, came quick and was a big portion. They give plenty of salad which was fresh and tasted well seasoned, the chips were also well seasoned and cooked to perfection.Plenty of parking available at this place and its a big establishment. Would defo recommend this place

As others stated before me, the location is excellent : high on a cliff overviewing a quasi private bay, directly at the cliff edge. Perfect in nice weather. The food isn't bad but to be honest, I would not recommend any of the starters but the main courses are good to very good. We have been several times to this restaurant and only once were we disappointed in the quality of the main course (a T-Bone steak that could rival with an old shoe...). The wines and the service are exceptionally good. But you need time : waiting (with a glass of bubbles that is being offered) until the order is taken, waiting before the food is served, waiting until you get billed. But in that beautiful spot, who cares?

Excellent light lunch today, thanks to suggestion and good reviews on TA. We stopped at this small restaurant on a lovely warm & sunny day. Selected 2 tapas dishes to share. Sardines crostini & stuffed peppers. Both delicious. Washed down with a beer. Highly recommended

I had a recommendation so went for lunch. We sat outside in the courtyard, which was very pleasant... tables were spread out well, not so close to other tables. Good choices on the menu, but even with all the choice I decided to have the Scabbard fish again in Madeira, but this time with an almond crust. A starter of bruschetta was very good. The fish was delicious, it could have been slightly dry on its own, but came with a good bowl of sauce, along with potatoes and salad. The Polvo was gorgeous, I almost wish I'd chosen that, but I can have next time! We finished with a passion fruit Panna Cotta which was delicious. With a half bottle of Casal Garcia it was a really lovely lunch for a very reasonable price. Thank you, will come here again sometime.

Located in the heart of of Câmara de Lobos, the Vila do Peixe and Vila da Carne Restaurants overlook this picturesque fishing village and the most photographed bay in Madeira. Their modern warehouse design, using large glass panes to make the most of the
Visited here on reading rave reviews on trip advisor and disappointed with the lack of decent fish restaurants in Funchal. We arranged with our hotel to make the reservation and book the minibus which arrived on time with little fuss.On arriving at the restaurant we were shown to our table but we could have sat anywhere as it was so quiet. We arrived just before sunset and the views were stunning. The service from beginning to end was exemplary and we enjoyed selecting our own fish though the choice was limited. The turbot fillet was cooked to perfection and the accompaniments fresh and plentiful.A glass of Madeira wine at the end toasted a lovely evening.

Always reserve an evening for a meal here. Never disappointed, but tonightâs was the best yet, even without the addition of the local folk dancing troupe. Went for the traditional espetada on laurel branches. Sides: chips, maize, tomato & onion salad, grilled pineapple, savoury rice & sweet potatoes and molasses. Decent bottle of Vinho Verde. One Super Bock. Meal for â¬80. Superb.â¤ï¸

Visited O Polar 3 years ago on our last visit to Madeira. Lovely atmosphere and everything freshly cooked to order. You know it must be good because itâs full of âlocalsâ. You need to arrive early as you are unable to book, and will need to wait for a table. Restaurant opens from 6:00pm every day. Beef paid for by weight.

You can eat in or out. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and is in a great location. The number 2 bus stops right outside, so there is no need to drink and drive. They will do you a takeaway. The staff are very friendly, but you can't eat the staff. Now about the food. It is colourful but very bland. Some of the food was delivered to the table cold. Until they get their act together, I would give them a miss.
