The room has barrelled brick ceiling and a huge welcoming log fire. The staff were also welcoming and delivered lovely service. We had smoked salmon and delicious salad followed by sea bass that was beautifully prepared at the table. The Poulilly Fumé wine was perfect accompaniment. For pudding we had the mousse chocolat and symphony of crème brulèe: chocolate coffee and vanilla. The chocolate one was a bit sweet to my taste, the coffee one was quite nice but the vanilla was by far the most delicious to me.  Dear guest, How nice to read that you had a good time at the distillery and enjoyed your meal. We thank you very much for taking the time to share your opinion and hope to see you again soon. Kind regards, Myriam CASTELAIN

We have been many times and tonight was the best experience for some time. Excellent warm foie gras and langoustine starters followed by very good pork, turbot and sweetbreads. They have revised the cheeseboard to include some interesting and delicious local cheeses. This was rounded off with a great crepe cooked at the table by our friendly waitress with a sense of humour. Finally there are some excellent reasonably priced wines from some of the "lesser"wine regions of France. Some of them are at least 10 years old.Dear Customer, We thank you very much for sharing your opinion on your meal at the Robert II. You correctly underline the quality of the products chosen and the finesse with which they are cooked. The staff will undoubtedly be very touched by your kind comment. It is with pleasure that we will welcome you soon to introduce you to other great classics of French gastronomy. SincerelyJennifer Fremaux

We chose this place after wandering around Bethune on a warm evening looking for somewhere to eat. It had outside tables, a buzzing atmosphere and we liked the look of the menu. After being brushed aside to wait for attention, we were eventually shown to a table indoors which was disappointing but understandable as we hadn't booked. Our group of 4 had mixed experience with food choices. Pizzas were good but the Gorgonzola and walnut ravioli dish was really poor with absolutely no blue cheese flavour and barely discernible stuffing. The staff were generally offhand.

We happened upon this place as we didn't fancy the menu in our hotel. What a great place. We were a group of friends with awkward dietary requirements and the restaurant managed to more than adequately meet our needs. We had cheese flan, snails, omelette, moules and also chicken. All the food was lovely, the service was relaxed and friendly and we had a great time. It was full of locals on a Monday evening so we thought that was a very good sign. You won't be disappointed.

Wow, what a find. After checking into a 'not so wonderful' hotel we needed a lift. We turned up and our French is awful. The staff were excellent hosts though, smiling, friendly and got the chef out of the kitchen to explain the menu to us. (I have a diary allergy and he told me what I could and couldn't have). The food and wine were stunning, the service was excellent and I would highly recommend this place for a visit. The price was also great 2 starters, 2 mains and 1 pudding, plus a lot of wine came in at a respectable 68euros. Thank you so much for making us feel welcome, we will be back again next year - with better French speaking skills!!

This establishment has changed hands since I was last here some 7 years ago and has gone a lot more upmarket.Service was swift and friendly and the decor relaxing and comfortable.I ordered a fillet steak with pommes sardelaise , arrived perfectly cooked and was both tender and tasty. The potatoes were superb. The pre meal amuse bouche was a nice touch. Customary Colenel for a dessert with a very generous slug of vodka and a carafe of very acceptable rose and a bill under 45 euros left me felling well fed and having had good value for money I will return

We ate here tonight and loved every minute of it!We ate from the 25EUR menu, and had the mushroom ravioli then the beef with dauphenose potatoes, followed finally by mile-filleau which was delicious. My partners glass was kept topped up promptly by the staff, and we were surprised by a small panne cotta with passion fruit topping before our desert. We were pleasantly surprised by the 71EUR bill considering she had a bottle of white wine also.Very reasonable, prompt and efficent service and clearly very popular with the locals too as it was packed when we left around 8:45.Highly reccomended, just park nearby so you don't have far to waddle!

My favourite meat has always been beef and this restaurant does delicious things to this meat. We were given a basket of bread served with the most delicious rough pork paté to start before choosing our meal. You don't have to have beef but, personally, I think it would be a shame not to experience the main product of the restaurant. We had the dish recommended by the man serving us and we were not disappointed. There were more chips than I could eat and I would have preferred a few sliced potatoes. Not a criticism as I should have asked what was served with the meal. We had a lovely bottle of wine that was also recommended. As I do not have a sweet tooth and had no room for cheese I went straight into a large coffee and cocnac but my partner indulged in a delicious looking brulee. It was not a cheap meal but we were after something good and the restaurant was nicely quiet and the staff friendly.

My boyfriend and I decided to check this place out because it was number one on Tripadvisor. I'm so glad that we did! The lunch prices are great and they have several "formules" to choose from, which is a set price for an appetizer + entree. The food was incredibly delicious and the waitress was very friendly. We will definitely be back!

Bijou restaurant serving tradition French food. Great ambiance, comfortable seating and quality table napkins and cutlery. Excellent service from the moment we walked in the door. Greeted and shown to a table, offered the wine list and drinks menu. Told about local wines and their qualities, - decided to order by the glass to go with our various courses. ( approx 4 Euros per glass) . Wine arrived promptly, tasted and our glasses filled. Given a little time to review the menu (a la carte) and offered the various set menus ( 3 courses for 25 - 35 Euros). The Patron speaks some English and was of great help in describing the cuts of the meat and the cooking method and ingredients. Each course was superbly cooked and presented. Can recommend the 25 Euro set menu and the beef in a mushroom sauce. Vegetables steamed and full of flavour. They certainly made having dinner out a great experience. We will certainly re visit when next in Bethune.
