The Guixera Restaurant is located in one of the most beautiful landscapes of Maia de Montcal and Beuda (5 min Besalu ) surrounded by meadows at the foot of Mare de Deu del Mont. It has a large outdoor terrace with views equipped with games and swings for
This is in a lovely spot, just outside of the village, and it's a pretty restaurant with a homely feel and only a handful of tables. The welcome was warm and friendly, and service was impeccable - efficient, knowledgeable and discreet. We shared the meat platter for our mains, which was excellent value and a good way of tasting a bit of everything - loved the sausages and black pudding. Everything was cooked and served with care. Solid regional cooking and an interesting wine list. Certainly would love to go again! Thanks for coming, we love the opinions of guests from other countries. ;)

We ate here twice and really enjoyed our meals. The setting is stunning and gothic-style high in the mountains with beautiful landscape views, while the food was very tasty and adventurous. It's family run making for a cosy, friendly feel. Would highly recommend! Also does the best calamari I've ever tasted and delicious house wine. At 15-18 Euros for a full meal including wine and water, this is brilliant value.

We found this place, some way outside the old part of Besalu, after looking at the various touristy restaurants in town. For 10 Euros (weekday lunchtime) you get a range of freshly made salads for starter and a choice of 5 or so hot main dishes (Fish, rabbit, pork etc the day we were there) plus desserts and drinks (water and draft wine) included. Good fresh simple food in a lively and pleasant dining space. Friendly, helpful and efficient service. All in all a good experience. Worth finding up behind the municipal swimming pool.

I take a typical spanish dish, "calamarcets amb verdures", squid with vegetables. The quality of ingredients are the reason for the level of this typical Catalan restaurant. And the service are very good, all the time take care of us.

Enjoyed a lovely meal here in early autumn so Besalu was quiet but very nice. We sat on the terrace out the back overlooking the river and old bridge. Great service, food and wine, this restaurant is kinda of tucked away and doesn't look much from the outside but we were glad we found it.

Small, cosy restaurant (8 tables); stone walls. Home-made pizzas; we make our own dough. Some desserts are home-made too.
Located just off a small centre town placa in a narrow side street, look for the oval "0" sign up on the wall. An owner/chef run little restaurant with a great selection of thin crust pizza, with an unusual chef choice selection of toppings and sauces., crisp local salads. Simple no nonsense decor, with an effort to good food and good service. Waitress was friendly with good English and owner USA trained and working from the open plan in restaurant kitchen. You must be the folks from Australia, am I right?. It was my pleasure. Thanks for your comments. It's always especially nice to bake pizzas for people who love this dish.Take care

It ranks high on TA reviews and no wonder!! The warm welcome from the chatty gent and friendly service staff was a harbinger of good things to come. There are set meal options, complete with wine, all for a sensible price. Our starters: meat stew; seafood pasty with a large prawn; mains: pork loin; grilled cuttlefish/scallop; desserts: recuit (Catalan Mel y mato); créeme brûlée. Each dish was well presented and delicious. Portions were huge! What a gem of a restaurant! I truly enjoyed our meal at Cal Tronc and would return in a flash!!!

Excellent menu offering both traditional and modern takes on catalan specialties. Not an overwhelming choice but enough to make it very difficult to prioritise.Setting of the restaurant is at the foot of the medieval bridge over the El Fluvia river with a beautifully decorated terrace.Strongly recommend for a gastronomic experience and/or special evening out.
