Things to do in Aviles

The La Capilla restaurant is an intriguing space steeped in history. It was once the chapel of this 17th-century palace, and has a serene atmosphere that extends from the spacious dining rooms to the rooftop terrace. It has an excellent reputation with gu
We visited from a cruise ship and tried lunch at La Capilla restaurant in the NH Palacio De Ferrera hotel â recommended by some of the shipâs officers. Thanks to them for that, it was simply exquisite. The hotel itself is a delightful old building. Many original artworks are on display. The public areas beautifully preserved and appointed. There are very pleasant gardens to the rear.La Capilla restaurant has a lunchtime special menu. My choice was a gorgeous King Prawn Risotto, a Sirloin Wellington and fruit & yoghurt dessert. It was cooked to perfection and one of the best dining out experiences in quite a while. The restaurant style is slightly formal, but unhurried and friendly. Staff members and Maitre Dâ very attentive. Lunch here starts late at 1:30pm and by 2:00 has filled up with a good local business clientele. We loved the look of the hotel and the dining experience so much that we are planning to return in the autumn and stay here.

I have eaten in this restaurant four times and each time the set menu ( menu del dia ) was superb. Three delicious course plus extra side dishes, plus coffee, water and a bottle if good quality wine for 11.50 euros, absolutely amazing value for such delicious food. The service and the ambiance are both excellent.

Roberto and his wife provide and excellent service, the food is fresh and the desserts as everything served are homemade. I consider it home away from home. Eating at Meson Salamanca is a great experience. Quantity, quality of pruducts served and prices may be considered one of the best in The Spanish peninsula.I visit Aviles about 60 days every year. Celebrate wedding anniversary and have many lunch and dinners with friends and family at El Mesón

the restaurant is nice, the service perfect and the couple working in the kitchen prepares quiet good food. they make their own bread but ..... do not expect to get any "real italian stuff". it sounds italian but it isn't. bresaola is beef meat but you get some kind of pork ham, and the "bistecca milanese" is fried in oil and not prepared in a pan with butter etc.. but again all the stuff especially the cooks do their best and therefore 4 points.

We were here on September 4th. It was my birthday. We ordered a Russian salad, entrecot and scallops. Unfortunately the waiter spoke poor English, menu was in Spanish and it turned out that everything I ordered was at least for 4 people. My friend and I , we could eat only one-third of everything. It was very unfortunate , that the waiter did not warn us about the sizes of portions. I have to say , that the food was delicious. But the smell, when we enter to the restaurant was a little shocking. The smell of cider. There is a funny tradition to pour cider into glasses. So, my advice in this restaurant: ask you waiter of sizes of portion and you don't have to pay for food you can't eat.

Te damos la bien-ve-nida al Res-tau-rante La Dar-sena, un lugar a la vez calido y con-tem-po-ra-neo, que anima a rela-jarse y dis-fru-tar a la mesa, con el Cen-tro Nie-me-yer de fondo y a un paso del casco his-to-rico de Aviles. En el res-tau-rante La Dar
Few minutes walk from the Centro Niemeyer/dock area La Darsena has a relaxed bar area and small restaurant serving quality typical Spanish/Asturian food and wine. It was all served beautifully and very tasty. Good price, especially for the menu del dia.

The best wine bar in Avilés. Gerardo (the owner/bartender) is an expert oenologist who also makes the best mixed drinks in town. His gin-and-tonic is spectacular.Gerardo's wife, Paloma, originally from Logroño, is a fantastic chef with a Midas touch. Her "menestra de verduras" is beyond compare. And the location in Sabugo, the old fishermen's querters of Aviles, doesn't hurt, either. If you have been good, reward yourself with a visit. And if you have been bad and go to El Pañol, all your sins will be forgiven.
