Assagao (pronounced [aːsɡãːw]) is a village in Bardez, Goa located about 4 kilometres west of Mapusa. Assagao is Known as Land of Flowers. Village is surrounded by hills, From Mapusa town, the road u-turns uphill and, while descending the pass in the small plateau, splits into two parallel roads one which proceeds straight along The church of St. Cajetan, Assagao Union High School anjuna and the other passes by Pallottine Seminary,Panchyat office straight to Badem. The popular beaches of Anjuna and Vagator are to the west of Assagao. Assagao Union High School is located in the village.

We heard about this restaurant from a family friend and decided to check it out. We were not disappointed. We were greeted immediately and shown to our table. The staff were very attentive. I ordered Beef Wellington and my husband a pork chop. An apperitive was brought to our table.The food took about 20 minutes to arrive but was worth waiting for. The presentation was perfect and the taste was just what I had hoped for.For desert I chose Pavlova.Thank you Gwen for your wonderful review. We are glad you enjoyed the meal and service and had a memorable experience at Amavi. The garlic bread, fresh watermelon juice and chocolate shake is a must try. For sunset this place is amazing...gets lil hot in the afternoon.the seating is way too small so plan accordingly. The shopping market is right outside the cafe. They have a place to park the car. The beach is 1 min walk.

Jamies is a cab ride from baga beach around 300 rupees.The menu is quite extensive and will suit all needs and tastes with traditional sausage and mash to a typical Goan curry. Our food was served very quickly, I had chicken curry, rice with cheese & garlic nan it was a perfect sized portion and hotness. (they ask how hot you would like it) My fellow traveler had prawn curry and they were as equally satisfied with their meal. The staff were very attentive and pleasant. they do a nice selection of cocktails but we shared a bottle of house wine @1900 rupess (In Goa wine is expensive in comparison to the UK) only downside for me personally was lack of ambiance maybe some back ground music would change that. We could hear every customers conversations.

The place is simple yet rustic and some of the dishes in the english breakfast menu are must try. The seating is open with temporary covered roof, which was leaking at few spots upon my visit as it was rainy season. The taste of the dishes is really authentic and portion size is adequate. The breakfast is not heavy either on stomach or on pocket.The menu ranges from Egg, Pork, Fish, Sausages and vegetarian. They even have a small shop for some souvenir shopping.Many thanks for the nice review. We do not serve any non-vegetarian dishes and are primarily vegetarian apart from serving eggs and tuna. A lovely Restaurant with nice clean Toilets and Premises. Excellent food and Service. Nice tasty food although quite spicy for some tastes so ask for mild if in doubt. Quite a busy place so may need to book in advance. Prices are very reasonable. The atmosphere was friendly and comfortable.

Assagao is a nice quiet village and with beautiful age-old Portuguese houses converted as Guest Houses,where we stayed for New Year.Bristo was just walking distance from our Villa and the decoration for Xmas and New Year was very pleasing.We had a nice lunch and they served varieties to our Grandkids' Choice! Everything we had was good, especially the beef carpaccio, salmon tartlets and home-made mascarapone gelato.The owner Mario will make recommendations, just say yes to whatever he suggests, even the scarpetta (literally means little shoe for some reason but is actually freshly baked bread) at the end to mop up the olive oil and sauces on your plate. The chef is his wife Simona whom you will probably want to thank a million times during your meal. A very, very satisfying meal!
