Who would believe such a good cook hid in Gais, Appenzell (15 Gault&Millau)? Try it when youâre around and youâll discover, for instance, outstanding and delicate raviolis - matchin the best you can find in Italy. Desserts are exquisite and the wine list impressive.Nevertheless, all meals are not that excellent...the duck was ordinary.

This was an amazing place i had a chance to be in, during my recent visit to Swiss. A good place where food is nice and the family serving the food is also very good. I started with the Grossmutter's Fladlisuppe which is also known as the Grandma's soup which was really nice. I liked it alot.For the mains we had Schweinsfilet-medaillon im Speckmantel Pommery-Sensfsauce, Gemuse und Nudeln which was something selected by my friend here. It was really really nice. To end it all I had green tea with Apfelchuechli mit Vanilleglace which was basically apple dish with vanilla ice cream. Overall had a very nice time here.

Wir waren am Freitagabend hier für unsere Weihnachtsfeier. Die Lokation ist super, aus Holz, uhrig, schön dekoriert. Wir haben Käsefondue vorbestellt, der Tisch war bereits eingedeckt für uns, als wir ankamen. Das Lokal war voll, der Service aber hat uns das Gefühl gegeben, dass sie nur für uns da sind. Sie haben es verstanden, die Hektik nicht auf die Gäste zu übertragen. Wir kommen selber aus der Gastronomie und waren begeistert von der Performance. Das Käsefondue war sensationell, mit tollem rezenten Käse und super abgeschmeckt. Preis/Leistung passt komplett, auch bei den Getränken. Wir können euch wärmstens weiterempfehlen. We were here for a dinner between work colleagues. We ordered mainly meat dishes. Everyone was satisfied. I personnaly ordered the Deer filet with Maroni as it was the deer hunting season, it was excellent. Service was good and staff very friendly. The only reason I do not give 5 for this restaurant is location and prices.

After many stays in Switzerland I came to trust the Swiss ââGilde Gourmetââ guide when looking for traditional restaurants with nice food and pleasant atmosphere. Grüntal is undoubtedly one of them - despite its not-so-glamourous location between the train station and an industrial area. The dining room is on the smaller size but boasts an intimate and relaxed feeling. Thumbs-up to Liliane for her efficient and professional service. During the dinner the chef also came out to greet the guests - much appreciated. The menu is short with focus on seasonal produce. As starter I had the spring salad with swordfish - delicate and tasty. As main course I chose the catch of the day, which was a duo of skrei (Norwegian cod) and trout served with a mushroom sauce: quite generous and tasty portion, the fish was very fresh. As sweet I indulged myself with a delicious sample of mango sorbet, mousse au chocolat, coconut ice cream, and orange sponge cake. Unfortunately Switzerland has always had a high price structure, even in the countryside. The (expensive) bill amounted to CHF91. Admittedly not to everyoneâs budget, but the excellent food and great service are well worth it.

We have been invited to stay at the Gupf for one night including aperitif, dinner and Monday Morning Breakfast (closed on Monday). Excellent food, best in class service with and a vine list that struck you. Vine cellar is breathtaking and a paradise for all vine lovers. And what is good food and superb vine without a good service? Would be nothing and this was the point of excellent... best in class service! Congrats!

Have been for working lunch.Restaurant is really nice, spectacular view of the mountains surrounding the place.Very high quality of food and wine.Personnel is friendly, very kind and extremely professional.If you are in the area i strongly recommend to pass by.

Came here with a few friends for lunch. Love that typical Swiss 19 century ambiance of this restaurant. price-service level is great! You get really amazing lunch menues for fair prices between 20 and 40 CHF. i had a delicious aspargus soup ( amazing!) and a fitnessteller with pork schnitzel (also amazing) . eventhough they forgot to bring me the salad dressing ( they put you a selection of two dressing on the table - you can choose or take both) i still give them 5 stars. Altogether i was really excited and enjoyed! For sure i will come back!
