I had the vegetarian meze and my boyfriend had the meat meze. We have eaten here before and yet again amazed at the food and place. My favorite place to eat. The food has so much flavor and you do not get board on the second, third bite or at all.

We went to this restaurant ofr our wedding anniversary and quite frankly it was fantastic. The staff were extremley helpful and helped us understand the various disches and its specialty. The food is exquitie and tast so light that it almost feel unreal. The menu is very quirky and unpredictabel which adds to the appeal. It is without a doubt well worth a visit. It is very deserving of its Michelin Star and a hearty congrats to its owners. We shall certainly be retuning there soon.
I'm sorry if this sounds bad but I am so used to generic infrared oven cooked chain mush I wasn't expecting anything different. I had the duck tika and was so surprised how tasty it was, good texture, piping hot. It is a very limited menu, only one dessert, no starters but I would recommend it.

I have been here lots of times in the past. Delicious food. especially the cheesecake. Absolutely fantastic!! Would recommend to anyone. However very slow service. I have had to catch a staff member every time I want to order and for the bill. I asked one girl and she never would take my order, said the other girl will do it and then just stood doing nothing. This could be made more efficient. Overall great restaurant .Very yummy.

A pre-shop breakfast on a busy Saturday. Seated immediately, given a choice of where to sit. Given plenty of time to read the menu, once ordered our food arrived quite quickly. It was cooked well and was very tasty. The cost was very reasonable.Hello! What a lovely review! Join us for breakfast, a light lunch or delicious dinner. Our welcoming staff will ensure your time at Carriages is both relaxing and enjoyable. As part of Alveston House Hotel, the restaurant prides itself on providing beautifully designed food, full of
Carriages Restaurant is within the Alveston House Hotel on the A38 near Thornbury. The Hotel itself and the Dining area oozes cleanliness, bland decor, a slightly old-fashioned "middle-class" type ambience - the sort of place to take ones maiden Aunt and be sure she'll find little to moan about. The Sunday Lunch I had was reasonable priced at £19.50-£22.50 for 2-3 courses. There was very little actual cooking involved, most of the food being apparently bought in already prepared. The main course arrives already plated, so no choice of type or amount of vegetables or sauce. The cheeseboard was straight out of the fridge. The service was very friendly and efficient. It's the sort of place that doesn't do "exotica", but you're unlikely to find too much to complain about if standard British Hotel fare is what you're looking for.Incidentally, the Hotel is currently up for sale.Thank you for your review. We like to think that we have an elegant restaurant but appreciate your feedback. We can assure you and any readers of your review that our food is completely home made and nothing is bought in already prepared. If more vegetables or sauce is required we are always more than happy to oblige. Your cheeseboard should not have been fridge cold and we apologise if this was the case. We do hope you will visit us again and do mention that you would prefer a larger portion of vegetables!

Ronnie's restaurant in the heart of Thornbury has turned a crumbling 17th century building into a lively, stylish eaterie and coffee lounge. Recently voted South West Restaurant of the Year by The Good Food Guide, the dining room features exposed natural
Had dinner with friends and loved the tasting menu and wine flight. As ever, the food and wines were superb. The only reason Iâm giving this visit 4 and not 5 stars is that on this occasion the service was clumsy and unprofessional. The ladies serving us were very pleasant, but sadly they were not well trained or informed. The wine and food courses were not served together as they should be - we either had to wait 10-15 minutes for the food (by which time the wine had been drunk!) or we were served our food and had to wait for the wine (whilst our food was going cold). When asked questions about the wine, the waitresses didnât know the answers. This is a great shame as Ronnie and his team of chefs had clearly worked very hard, but they were let down by their front of house colleagues. I hope Ronnie puts this right by the time we visit again and that we receive the high level of service, knowledge and enthusiasm that we have come to expect here.

once inside the restaurant there is a good feeling and the conservatory area is lovely setting. It was a very busy Saturday night but the service was attentive and efficient.I had a sort of bacon, avocado salad to start which was a good size and enjoyable. The main was a little disappointing the fish stew was not as I expected. My idea of fish stew is fish cooked in a broth but the seafood, which I might add was lovely, was served in a tomato sauce. It was tasty but maybe better served on pasta!Wine averagely priced and staff very good.

Family-run Italian/Sardinian restaurant where everydish is homemade each day with passion. Freshly homemade pastas, slow-cooked meats,72 hours pizza dough, homemade desserts good wines and amazing staff at Zanky's!
As frequent visitors to Sardinia we were thrilled to find a Sardinian restaurant so close to home. We ordered several antipasti alongside main courses, wine, coffee and sides- all were delicious! But these portion sizes were small, the restaurant space is minuscule (there was a large table behind us which was loud - no fault of the restaurant but it was offputting) and it was so hot we couldnât enjoy the meal. The wine cost on the bill differed to the cost on the menu, although we didnât question this at the time, and the 15% surcharge was outrageous for a party of 4. Sadly we wonât be returning but wish this wasnât the case because the food was great.

We had lunch on Monday 8th October. The food was excellent, with a wide ranging menu on offer. Great wine list, with a fair selection available by the glass.Berwick Lodge is set in beautiful (well maintained) grounds, perfect for summer use; and yet in the winter has real fires in it's lounge, once again ideal for a cold winters day.Friendly helpful staff.A couple of minor criticisms :-- we were not asked during lunch if the food was OK- we were not offered coffee at the end of lunch- it's on the expensive side (but the food is very good).(It's very difficult to find â see the detailed directions on the website), but well worth the effort.Dear Stu,Thank you for your review on trip advisor. As a small family run business it is so helpful for us to know what our customers are thinking so we can carry on improving.I am sorry you were not asked if you wanted coffee or tea after your meal or how your meal was.The directions on the website can be printed off and we also have 2 brown signs on the dual carriageway directing customers to us. we really hope to see you both back at Berwick Lodge again soon.Best wishes Sarah
