Some would call it old-world charm, I would say old-fashioned. No surprises in the menu, clearly designed to serve a larger group. Not very well cooked either. Fish sauce too heavy and fat. Meat overcooked. Decent wines to pair the food.

There are a few places in Alkmaar to get fries/chips, but this is definitely my favourite. The fries are everything they shuld be - crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside and absolutely delicious with mayo (although you can choose from a wide selection of other sauces)

If you are up for it go for the surprise menu. Really nice dishes. A small, cosy and quite environment. Unfortunately not always to crowded, especially if you come later (after 7pm) in the evening you will end up being the last guest soon (after 10pm).

Eten & Drinken is so close to Kass (Cheese) Museum and also near the statue of the âKissing Ladyâ. Tourists flock here and there is always a line up to be seated. Mainly Bier (Beer!), draft or otherwise, hard liquor, combined with burgers or any continental favourite. Outside seating gives a fantastic view of the landmarks nearby and passing crowd. Very relaxing and very courteous service.

Coffee-limo-chill-jazz-beer-funk-sweet-burger and more. Feel welcome! (Across the Great Church/St Lawrencechurch)
Great beer selection, cool music, friendly staff, a house cat with attitude, relaxed atmosphere and a super cosy decor. The view to the enormous church is also fine.I had a tasty beef stew with tender meat, chipotle and black peas. My wifeâs white fish with fennel cream was dull, though.Nevertheless, De Binnenkomer is a good place to hang out and have a little treat.

This restaurant is slightly at the edge of the historic centre, meaning removed from the tourist crowds. The staff was welcoming and very accommodating. We started with drinks (great beer from the island of Texel) and they prepared us a special cheese platter. We then had a variety of dishes, including a juicy and excellently prepared sirloin steak. The atmosphere is nice and quiet, and we left the hotel after digestives in a very good mood.

The first & only real Scottish Restaurant in the Netherlands. We ( myself and my wife Gerie) opened our family run restaurant in 1989 and since then only sell what we produce ourselves, all products made from scratch in house. Regular live music sessions
Did you ever had Haggis, smoked salmon, scotts egg and feeled in heaven. This restaurant give you that feeling. Provided with a whisky advice of a walking whisky encyclopedia in the form of the owner, you would immediately emigrate to Schotland.Thank God we have this restaurant in Holland !
