Reviews on Emilian food in Piacenza, Province of Piacenza, Italy. Piacenza [pjaˈtʃɛntsa]  listen (help·info) (Emilian-Romagnol: Piasëinsa, Latin: Placentia) is a city and comune in the Emilia-Romagna region of northern Italy. It is the capital of the province of Piacenza. Modern forms of the name descend from Latin Placentia. The etymology is long-standing, tracing an origin from the Latin verb placēre, "to please." In French, and occasionally in English, it is called Plaisance. The name means a "pleasant abode", or as James Boswell reported some of the etymologists of his time to have translated it, "comely". This was a name "of good omen."

This was our first experience in an Italian family restaurant. Antipasto is presented as a buffet as is dessert. Both are plentiful and excellent. The pasta dishes, risotto and meat dishes are plentiful. Lots of home made delicious bread. We had a wonderful time!

I've been on this trattoria on October the 19th with another couple of friends (we actually wanted to go to another one as they were full, they suggested us them). Didn't like the fact that it took them about 25 minutes to let us order. The waitress, took us two bottles of water, 5 minutes later they bring us some oil and salt, no bread, no schiacciata... few minutes later, she took it back, without any reason, we just laughed at it, but it's not a professional behaviour. Its location isn't the best, in fact as they call themselves "birreria", they've a birreria location. The menù is quite varieted, you've a different choices as starters, we got their "gnocchi fritti and tipical salumi", was delicious the best I've ever eaten! I can't actually say the same for the first dishes, my friends got a pasta with garganelli was great but not special, another one got their tortelli, salvia e burro he says it was good, anything to say about mine I got their tortelli con faraona, cipolla and a sugar sauce it was uneatable and too little portion (actually poor one), I've eaten it because of its not really cheaper price (€12,00), i felt it did not worth my money. We finally arrive at desert time, I've got their sbrisolona and chantilly cream it was delicious, I found it to be a nice idea of mixing flavours, the torta with mandorle and chocolate was great; can't say the same thing for the desert with the amaretto, honey, biscuits, chocolate and orange, it was definetely disgusting (so sorry to say it, we just left it). Didn't like the fact they billed us €100,00, when the total has to be €96,00, I'm not complaining the €4,00 but their behaviour regarding the little but specifical difference, maybe it was a mistake, but they have to be more careful. All in all if in future I'm in Piacenza would give them another possibility, as part of the menù was great.

We enjoyed our Sunday lunch here. The restaurant is located on the main road leaving the city. You’ll need a car to get here. There’s plenty of street parking in front. The restaurant was already crowded with Italians when we arrived just past noon. We didn’t notice any other tourists except for us. Service was excellent from an English-speaking server. We ordered spaghetti vongole which was very tasty. It came al dente as expected. Our other dish was homemade pasta stuffed with spinach and ricotta in a pomodoro sauce. It too was excellent. The bread was chewy and the red house wine was very good. It's a modern restaurant with an upscale feel to it but the prices are very reasonable. After eating here, we're not surprised it was so busy. We can highly recommend eating here.

I went to this restaurant with some friends who live in Piacenza and I must say they directed us towards a marvellous dinner. High-quality food, in large portions, ranging from the typical appetizers consisting of "gnocco fritto" and a selection of cold cuts and tartare, to three different first courses, to a variety of desserts.Service was excellent, as was the wine proposed. All of this at a very reasonable price. Highly recommended!

I was for the second this in this trattoria yesterday. I shared the starter with local salami and "copra" with the typical "gnocco fritto " followed by the signature home dish of Piacenza, the "Pisarei e faso'". To drink we had Gotturnio Superiore which is also the local red wine. You better look for the "Fermo" version of this wine, as often Gotturnio is found a bit sparkling otherwise. Try also the freshly made cakes to conclude a truly local meal, just like the one you would get from the best of Moms in this part of Emilia Romagna.

I had already researched this place when the hotel recommended it. I was happy to be there for pranzo on a cloudy day: Soup to nuts! Decor was a bit modern for me. Everything else was straight As. I loved the local feel with the "regulars" getting their tables. When everything is so good I guess you always wish for larger portions! Auguri!

Divine, loved it, everything super, both the food and the wine, I especially adored the vegetable strudel with rosemary fonduta, very special and delicious. Also the veal punta al forno was fantastic, as "advertised" on the menu. But if you go, do try the strudel, unique. I don't know about the price because our friends paid the bill.

My husband and I went based on reviews and we weren't disappointed! Such friendly staff. Full of locals and it's off the beaten path so clearly it's a destination stop away from the busy areas. The food was fantastic- delicious and perfectly prepared. I had the best zucchini flowers and my husband had a delicious pasta and the tripe which he said was extraordinary. Definitely recommend!
