Reviews on Eastern European food in Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia. Zagreb got its start as two medieval fortress towns atop hills overlooking the Sava River, and was reborn in the Baroque period as center of business, perfectly located on routes connecting Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea. These days, Zagreb is the heart of contemporary Croatia’s culture, art, sports, and academics, but its history is not forgotten. The unique blend of medieval towers, 19th century palaces, open-air markets, and ancient cathedrals, make Zagreb the perfect city to explore.

Great Restaurant!!Based on a local guide who told us " politicians and truck drivers eat at this place and it's good". Hebtokd us it was his favourite and we were not disappointedI ordered the signature dish -meat stew with gnocchi, this is 4 different meats in a lovely sauce absolutely delicious. My partner had grilled veal with grilled vegetables and this dish was also great. The house red wine was very good as well, far better than I was expecting. A lovely dining experience with good waiters.Well worth at least one visit

Welcome to the tripadvisor page taverns Didov san ( grandfather's dream ) Meet part of our gastronomy and the specifics of the restaurant
We enjoyed our meal in this traditional restaurant. Service was efficient, friendly and we actually had some advice which is always nice. We shared a generous starter made of fried cheese, with more cheese on the side. Then we both a main course: stuffed peppers and another one made of pork stuff with bacon and cheese, all very nice. We had wine too and paid 27⬠for everything. Best to book before, even during the week. Go for it!

Great food, excellent service and local food at a reasonable price. Our waitress was welcoming and helped us with some very basic Croatian. We had the goulash and the stuffed beef mince with seasonal veges - both were quite nice. Add a glass of wine and a gin and tonic and our total bill was approx AUD42.

We had lunch here three times because we really enjoyed the food and ambience outside. It is quality food with flare. The waitress we had the first two times was particularly attentive and interested to assist us with our choices. However all of the staff were pleasant and professional. There is an interesting cheese list. We had both pasta and meat dishes - all were delicious. Given the quality of food we thought it was good value. I noticed the comments about portion size. If you're looking for a big plate of food with fries this is not the place. For us, the serving sizes were perfect.

Very nice traditional feeling restaurant. I ordered vegetable mousaka. It was wonderful. Altho I would hate to learn the calorie count as it was full of cream. Very tasty. Had a nice shopska salad with it and the house wine was good. Overall, a very reasonable bill. Will return when I visit Zagreb again

The restaurant Lanterna na Dolcu (Lanterna at the Dolac Market) was opened on 10 September 2010 in the magical atmosphere of an old manor. Brothers Tomislav and Ivan shared the same vision from the beginning - to offer traditional Zagreb food at reasonabl
We had dinner in Lanterna due to the positive comments in Tripadvisor. The food was good but probably not very different to other restaurants located on the same very nice pedestrian Zagrebâs street.

Ok - it was Friday early evening (7pm) and we did manage to get the last seats without reservation (just in front of kitchen door and in between bar and main dining room). Started of with a mushroom soup - not bad, just little flavor. Main course: wife had a salad with which she was not impressed, especially with the salty cheese - but also im general. I had the stuffed pork loin. Was nice, not great. Waiter was friendly and wine by glass good. Could return but expect there must be better out in zagreb so not convinced on the need to reserve which seems to be the norm (quite a few left restaurant without dinner due to lack of space).
