Reviews on Eastern European food in Sarajevo, Sarajevo Canton, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bosnia and Herzegovina's fascinating capital Sarajevo nestles among dramatic peaks, a bustling and welcoming city. War took its toll, with the 1992-1996 siege hitting hard. But the lively, diverse, museum-rich city has been almost entirely reconstructed. Don't miss Bijambare caves, set in thick forests and amid lakes to the north of the city, or Bosna Springs, from which the country takes its name. Site of 1984's Winter Olympics, Sarajevo offers spectacular skiing on Mount Bjelasnica Jahorina.

In the hearth of the old part of the city of Sarajevo, Bascarsija, presenting pure Bosnian national style and heritage, you can enjoy traditional national food and beverages with decent prices. With outside seats and tables you can feel specific and well
After exploring Sarajevo we have been looking for a nice place for dinner. Trip Advisor recommended this place. We got a warm welcome and detailed recommendations for local food. I was thinking of something international but our waitress recommended something local. Her recommendation was delicious, THX!Also the local wine is very good. In total a very nice place to visit.

We were delighted to eat our first dinnerin Sarajevo at this restaurant off the usual Old Town route. Wonderful plants and decorations adorned the walls. The menu was not extendsive, but my husband and I found appetizers and entrees that suited us: wiener schnitzel, roasted pepperd and garlic, breaded cauliflower and mushrooms. The beer and wine list offered options, and I enjoyed my local chardonnay

We loved it and our best meal in Sarajevo. Wonderful local specialities in a great atmosphere with plenty of locals. Family dinner - can recommend the ravioli, more like dumplings, the veal and veg Sabre/shashlik was nicely grilled, stuffed peppers were a treat. Good service and vibe and incredibly cheap for us tourists.

This Äevabdžinica is similar to other similar establishments in BaÅ¡ÄsrÅ¡ija, the menu, food, set-up... Yet, there is something special about food there. As long as youâre not a vegetarian youâll be in a happy place here. Food is tasty, quick, cheap and it quickly makes you want to try more. The only drawback is that during the peak hours itâs too crowded and the wait for a table can be quite long.

The Meat Burek is the best Iâve had. Not greasy, the pastry is flaky, the meat well seasoned, not too salty yet very flavorful, yummmmmm.

This is near to but not the same place as the Buregdzinica Sac
We went there and the place was full and buzzing with the locals. Everything is steaming hot because they continually male new pies. It is delicious, tastes absolutely amazing and it's very inexpensive. Great place to go!

Delicious and authentic Sarajevo ÄevapÄiÄi. It is hard to find a free place, but itâs worth to try some times. The dish itself is delicious, meat is well prepared and juicy, including lepinja (bread) and always fresh kajmak (cheese). The service is very kind and quick, the price is very good.

Story about "Zara iz duvara" is truly inspired by nature from its very beginnings. Literal translation is "Nettle from a Wall", where we put nettles on pedestal as one of the finest gifts of nature. Nettles have incredible application in alternative medic
One of the most remarkable experiences I had in the Sarajevo. While Bosnian cousine is easily the best in the Balkans, most restaurants usually tend to present the same dishes. Zara iz duvara is a lovely exception which offers the true, traditional homemade cuisine of Sarajevo. The food is great (I personally recommend tendons and veil medallions), the people is very kind and while the place itself isn't very big (reservation is strongly recommended), the atmosphere is pleasent and nostalgic. The service may result slow to some, but good things take their time and I truly appreciate it. Economically the quality/cost ratio is so good this restaurant should be a must for anyone who visits Sarajevo.

At the recommendation of our friend we had dinner with colleagues there. Very small tables and uncomfortable seats close to the kitchen, and due to that a bit noisy. Two ordered steaks, but they were not satisfied with the quality.
