Things to do in Pamporovo
We prefered because of the traditional Bulgarian food. After the order, we waited 45 minutes and we didn't have dinner together. It was disapoint. The prices are so expensive! Keep your menu throughout check on the table

Popped in at Sunday lunchtime, about 1340. It is situated at the beginning of Pamporovo, the first place one sees. It is raised above the road and looks impressive. We were hungry and thought we would stop there to eat.We were the first customers. A table of three or four arrived shortly after. So, not rushed off their feet!Comfortable tables, nice decor, Western European music playing. The waiter spoke good English and also understood my Bulgarian. He works in the summer at Sunny Beach and here in the winter. He came across as a cheeky chappie, rather than a professional waiter. The menus: long and varied. Everything that we would have wanted. But the prices! OMG, we are used to BG prices in cities and villages but this takes the mickey. Yes it is still cheap enough by English standards and there is a premium for being at a ski resort. Sadly the season has finished.Perlenka for 11 leva rather than the 3 we pay. Patatnik at 11 or 12 leva rather than 4 or 5. Babba's potatoes at 12 leva rather than 4. We said that the food better be very good for those prices. He understood exactly what we meant. He then said that their portions were the largest around. We ordered starters which did, in fact, come out first.Oh, alcohol also came at a significant price hike, and you couldn’t get Bulgarian vodka, it had to be more expensive western vodka. My Bop soup had a lot of beans but very little taste, it also wasn’t steaming hot. A chicken noodle soup was good. The Rhodopian salad was large and tasty. The Perlenka was lovely. My main of chips, kababche and kofte was pretty awful. The chips were luke warm, the meat could have come from anywhere, was luke warm and very lightly cooked. The pizza was very tasty. The portions were not large by any standards. I mentioned this and the temperature of the food.A complimentary plate of cake and creme caramel to share was brought out by way of recompense. So, three starters, two mains, three drinks for 120 leva, sixty pounds. Twenty pounds a head. In the UK I would probably have felt full, sated and happy. I wasn't here. This may be a nice place in the season to come for a drink, albeit expensive, but I would not recommend it at all.Socks definitely need to be pulled up.
We visit Smolyan a lot so have been to many of the restaurants and my family all agrees that this is the best! There's always a lovely warm welcome and fabulous food. The restaurant is an old house (starata kushta) built in the Bulgarian revival style, with lots of lovely original artefacts and photos around the place. The original rooms are all still there so the chances are you'll be dining in a private room, laid out like a dining room in a Bulgarian home. We've never had a poor meal there and have particularly liked the lamb cheverme, all of the 'sach' ('sizzler') dishes and the trout but any choice would be a good one! We've often been given a significant discount off the (already extremely reasonable) bill for our attempts to read and speak Bulgarian and have several times been squeezed in somewhere when the restaurant has been full so we always feel amazingly welcome - as we always do across the region. When I think of the Starata Kushta I think of feeling full, warm and happy - so you can't say fairer than that!
Open daily, serving delicious hot meals and a variety of home made drinks. Our wooden lodge is now a popular lunch time spot for our many loyal friends and customers throughout the winter. Our menu is a unique selection of traditional Bulgarian dishes and
We had a short snack, tee, coffee and one of my friends borrowed ski from them. The equipment was much cheaper than elsewhere and there a lots of guys helping out and they have been very friendly and polite. Thumbs up for this place
Traditional style Bulgarian restaurant offers: wide variety of traditional cuisine, in front of client cooking, folk musicians, dances and singers, all surrounded by traditional Bulgarian style interior.
This is by far the best traditional restaurant in Smolyan. Authentic atmosphere and decorations of hand made folklore costumes. The menu is absolutely rich and diverse, with all dishes prepared at a highest professional level and being most delicious. Each evening there is a gayda playing (traditional musical instrument of the Rodopi mountain) and almost each evening a folkloric program. Prices are very reasonable. And what is one of the most important things, the staff is super polite and friendly. They take care for every customer and try really to make visitor’s stay most joyful. So, if one is going to Smolyan, a visit of this restaurant only could bring benefits from what it has to offer. I most certainly recommend the place. Make sure to have a table reserved prior to your visit. Otherwise one may not find a table free.
The spirit of our country, its merriment and life music will welcome you and see you off with a smile.

Steakhouse, BBQ Joint, Winery
This is one of the worst places I've ever been. We've went there by accident (I cannot believe this place has such good rating) and we were very disappointed. First of all at this place nobody accommodates the clients or greets you. After you got a table a frowning waiter is asking quite impolitely - What are you going to EAT?. Regarding the food, it was not better than the angry waiter, I got pizza that was burned like ash. Really bad food, bad attitude

This is a typical Bulgarian restaurant with Bulgarian folklore programme. The food is average - there is plenty of dishes to choose from and most of them are typical Bulgarian cuisine. The prices are high but still the setting is worth for it. The attitude in this restaurant is what repelled us. The behaiviour of the waiter and the manager. Unacceptable and certainly unbearable. Neither happy nor regular clients are earned with such mediocre manners.

The Bohemi, at the end of Smolyan, near the new roundabout, is one of those eating places left over from Communism. During those times there were lots of workers kitchens that provided very cheap, wholesome food. The Bohemi is an updated version. There is indoor and outdoor seating. There is a long counter behind which is all their food both hot and cold. There is a large selection. I counted six soups and further combinations thereof. They give what looks like half a loaf with the soup. Fish, grilled, fried. Whole and good looking trout. Chicken, roast or poached, a massive portion. Chips. Kebapche in various forms. Chips, potato salad, cabbage salad. Salad. Sauces. There is something for everyone. I have eaten in and taken away. The hours are about 1230 to 1830.I have had the chicken, roast, kebapche, potato salad and salad. Really good portions, very tasty. The cost hasn’t caught up with the rest of the world. A roast chicken dinner cost around Leva 6.20. That is less than £3 or $3.20 or about €3.I highly recommend this place, oh, the staff are very nice and helpful.

Opposite Laplandia hotel/apartments, few minutes walk from main chair lift. Had dinner here couple of times during a 5 night stay and thought this was the best restaurant in a Pamporovo for dinner. Huge menu selection of Bulgarian and international dishes. Liver starter was really good as were all the meat main courses. Even in a big group the service is excellent and super friendly. Great place, highly recommended.
