It is approximately 150 kilometres (93 mi) south of Colombo and is situated at an elevation of 4 metres (13 ft) above sea level. Mirissa's beach and nightlife make it a popular tourist destination. It is also a fishing port and one of the island's main whale and dolphin watching locations.

Great food, shisha, environment. Very friendly owner and staff, best night life in Weligamaâºï¸We kept coming back here every other night during our stay in Weligama and felt like at home. Itâs a brand new restaurant with a cosy interior.We love vegan food and this place has amazing options like falafels, hummus, interesting salad options. Generous portions to enjoy. They also have cocktails, beer, and other drinks.Ohhh thank you so much monika, what you said is so appreciated actually and im so happy to know that our customers are loving everything in bay-route even the small details. Wonder and friendly staff that will do anything for you!The owner has great links to the local area. Provided us a boat with whale watching tour, Champagne, flowers and great recommendations for places to eat on the beach.Also, they supplied a great driver to take us around Sri Lanka.
