The village of Noordlaren is a pretty little place in Drenthe, not far from Groningen. More or less in the shadow of the twelfth-century St Bartholomew Church is this cozy village restaurant (=The Lantern). It serves basically Frenchy-bistro food at very reasonable prices. The food is cooked to 'local taste', hence a bit too thoroughly to my tastebuds. We started out with quite nice beef and duck-breast carpaccio (house prepared/smoked). Meanwhile a basic and good bottle of red wine was opened, and we continued with a huge and tasty Tournedos and a Veal Tartare. The first was good, the second rather over-cooked. Good side dishes. Desserts were OK, but the chocolate sauce for the Dame Blanche was drably cold. Good espresso and sambuca topped off a nice meal. The atmosphere was convivial with several rather large parties which gave the place the air of village comfort. We had a good time.

Stopping over on a Friday night at Fletcher Zeegse, close to the Drenthe provincial capital Assen, we found that the Hotel offered also a very nice buffet-style dinner at a very affordable price. We found a good selection of dishes, making for interesting combinations (like cous-cous with brussels sprouts). But the topper was the meat - this was excellent. We almost forgot to leave room for a wide variety of desserts. More people knew or found out - the room was well filled, even though early february is not exactly high season.
for good bread, a nice cup of coffee with extra's, a delicious lunch, nice cookies, chocolate and cakes, pies and such; This is the address in Zuidlaren!

Retaurant inside the Brinkhotel, very nice ambiance, good menu, good quality meal, reasonable prices and very nice and friendly staff. Most enjoyable (except maybe for the wine, didn't think much of that, alas)Dear Ingrid M,Thank you very much for the nice rating you have given us! And thanks for sharing your opinion about our restaurant. I am curious thought, which wine you have had!Kind regards,Renate - Eethuis voor Allen

We went here expecting a luxurious 5-course dinner. We had 5 courses, but it was not worth the 5 stars the restaurant seems to get a lot. The only exceptional course was the cold starter. The rest of the courses were alright, but the portions were so small most of the people in our group were still hungry after dinner. Not to mention we were the only company there that night and it took very long to serve our food. Too bad, we expected a lot more!

Had s great meal with friends here recently and would highly recommend. I had the mustard soup which was delicious followed by the mixed grill which was plentiful and cooked exactly to my liking. Really enjoyed the food and the service and was reasonably priced.

What a gem. Wonderful ambiance and decor. Elegant setting and brilliant helpful and friendly service. So - a really good start! The food (Michelin Star Standard) was divine. We chose the 5 âsurpriseâ courses with the associated wine flight. Some lovely textures and flavours superbly presented. Chef clearly knows what he is doing!Special mention of the wines they chose to complement each course - each one perfect and often unusual but another delight. This is probably one of the best reviews I have ever left and if I could score 6 I would. Really hope to be able to return.

We visited the Grand Cafe for a lunch. We had some good sandwiches and the service was ok, but for the rest it is just average. There was nothing wrong with our lunch, but we could not find any reason why we should come back in the future.
