Restaurant with Belgian and French cuisine, speciality Mussels , Codfish,Lobster, Monkfish, Seafood and Irish Beef
The new look has definitely improved the dining experience, including broad choice of dishes and wines. While the food is still good, the prices have gone up. With a small (less than 200gr) and quite simple "rumpsteak+sauce" close to â¬27, the quality vs price has suffered badly.

Went to this restaurant to celebrate my birthday together with my wife. Although the restaurant was empty we entered but instead of a friendly reception, Mr. Antoine Rabaut gave us a cold welcome. It looked as if we should be happy to get the honor to have dinner there. My wife selected the menu that was recommended, I wanted to have a âa la carteâ dinner. The menu was only possible per table not per person so my wife had to select something else. Very strange, I visited a lot of restaurants but this was the first time I met that rule. The dinner we got was excellent but somewhat overprized. The âBeer-and-Cheese soupâ my wife had was gone with 6 spoons at a price of ⬠14.50, this wasnât worth it. The ordinary Chardonnay was ⬠4.80 a glass, I think they forgot they are in Nieuwpoort, a sleepy little village at the Belgian coast in the month of October, not the Cote dâAzur. The quality of the food was excellent but all together this was a moderate experience. I wouldnât visit this restaurant again.

Child friendly bistro with delicious home-cooked dishes! In the summer, the cozy beach terrace and dinner at sunset makes the whole meal complete. The home-made burgers are delicious!
This place offers the best Belgian treats in the entire Belgian coast - fantastic (home made) ice creams, real Belgian waffles or formidable pancakes.. of course you can also drink very good coffee or hot chocolate... The place is rin very efficiently and owners really take their business at heart - you can not miss this especially if you have children !!

I'm not as enthousiastic as the other reviewers, but my experience with this restaurant isn't bad either. I thought the atmosphere could have been better, but it was OK. (I admit that we were early too). I ordered a spaghetti, which was actually a linguini, and it was delicious. I payed a correct price for what I got and they were really friendly. When in neighbourhood, I'll return.

We visit Nieuwpoort each year and we always eat at Le Couver â it is a great restaurant. The atmosphere is warm and inviting and the owner goes out of his way to make you feel special. We were greeted like old friends, and on a very busy Thursday evening with a full restaurant he made time to chat to us several times throughout the evening. The menu is quite extensive and they have English versions available â a real bonus as I cannot speak a word of Flemish and my French is very limited. The food was tasty and cooked to perfection. The service was prompt and efficient.OK, itâs not cheap (none of the decent restaurant in Nieuwpoort are!) but it is excellent value for money. Dining at Le Couver makes for a thoroughly enjoyable and relaxing evening. We will certainly dine here next time we visit Nieuwpoort in June.

"De Roos" has existed for nearly a hundred years now. During the first World War it was a cafe where the customers could enjoy some shrimps or kippers at the bar.Since June 13th 2008 we have been running "De Roos", a cosy family restaurant where quality a
This is a great place to eat in Nieuwpoort city. Plenty of food, lots of choice and a very efficient service. In my opinion it appears to be one of the better places, so a reservation makes sense. I would advice the team that if a bottle is ordered, it is also opened at the table.

As per the previous poster, a seven strong family group visited De Plakker to celebrate my wife's birthday. Looks like I chose well. The whole experience from start to finish was superb. Great choice of beers, well presented and cooked food, and perfect service from the hosts. Cannot fault it, though by UK standards (and due to the pathetic value of the £ these days,) you would not call it a cheap option !

Nice decor and terrace wir-th open fire and view on the beach/sea. Nice place to drink something or for teatime. I would NOT recommend tough to eat there: not enough choices in the dishes, only a few snacks, several salads only available during summertime, suggestions only mentioned at the entrance, ... For sure there're plenty of better places than Chagall to eat in Nieuwpoort.

We decided to go to this restaurant following the very good rating on Tripadvisor. We had reserved but it was not necessary because there were a lot of tables empty. We ordered the menu for 40 EURO consisting of a starter, main dish and a dessert. The starter was very good and the main course ok. For the dessert we could chose between to things. I asked if I could change it to something else because I did not like both. I received a very short no answer. That was the negative line in our visit of this restaurant. Service was not friendly. We will not go back as for that price you will find better.Hello,It's true we don't allow the people to change the menu annymore. We did it in the past and after a while the people start to make their own menu.I don't understand why you're having troubles with it. All dishes from the menu can be ordered à la carte. So you could have ordered the dishes whith another desert. Why order the menu if there is something in it you don't like....I guess what you say about our friendlyness has a lot to do with the fact you didn't get what you wanted.Regards,Dajo

I had the suggestion of the day for lunch, which was a typical dish (vispannetje), albeit with french fries for I guess the tourists. Before there were some olives as well as pumkin soup and bread. The soup was ok, but lacked flavour. The same can be said for the main course, in which the little shrimp were not freshly peeled, and the whole was rather watery. The service was attentive and friendly, and the setting is nice. Plus point is that it was open, even in November. A negative point for small eaters is that you cannot order just a starter. You really think 19 euroâs is too much for what you got?For the price you payed; 19â¬; you got a pumpkin-carrot soup with fresh baked bread and butter, a portion of olives with garlic, a fishermanâs plate with steamed saumon, steamed cod, mussels and FRESHLY PEELED shrimps, a fish "waterzooi" sauce and gratinated with parmesan cheese, french fries âà volontéâ and mayonaise!!! But you still think 19 euroâs is much too expensive for this??? This is so FUNNY!!!! You really make us laugh :-) :-) !!! I do not know what you are used to pay for soup, bread, olives and a fisherman's plate!!!The âwaterzooiâ-sauce, you call it âwateryâ⦠???????And all our starters can be ordered for main course â¦!!!!! Do not lie!!!So please be correct en fair when you put something on Tripadvisor! Certainly when you only pay 19 euroâs for staying in a restaurant!
