Vermeer’s birthplace and a true gem, Delft sits between The Hague and Rotterdam in the country’s southwest. The city’s name comes from the Dutch word for digging, fitting since canals are a highlight here. Others include the 13th-century Old Church, the 15th-century New Church and the Prinsenhof, once home to William of Orange and now a museum. Delft has long been a center for fine ceramics, and traditional hand painting methods can still be witnessed at Koninklijke Porceleyne Fles.

Cafe de Oude Jan is a small pub in the centre of Delft, with a big and sunny terrace in the summer. We're a suitable place for lunch and drinks, but also for a gathering of friends or colleagues, birthday party, reception or a lunch with a bigger group. I
Cafe de Oude Jan have a nice and sizeable outdoor terrace at the foot of the Old John - the old church of Delft, of which construction started around 1250. At the moment regrettably a bit disturbed by building activity. However it should be said the Angus burger with goat cheese and Jalapenos was above average. Prices quite reasonable.

After seeing reviews and pictures of the pie here we just had to try it on a recent visit to Delft. We sat outside under the trees, mostly young Dutch people having lunch around us and the weather was beautiful. Our waiter spoke perfect English, and brought us out outstanding apple pies and coffee. WOW, being used to US apple pies, this one was just enormous with a river of whipped cream on top. Not too sweet, and crust was delicious....the taste of the apples came through. It was divine but I could not finish it, the serving was so big. This place is a real slice of Holland and our experience here was memorable. When we were finished our waiter asked us if it is true that American apple pies are so small and not as high as the Dutch....OH YES for sure!!

We made reservations at this fantastic restaurant on the recommendation of Trip Adviser members and reviews. It didnât disappoint! The atmosphere has a great local feel. Like youâre inside someoneâs home. There was outside seating in the back I believe. The food and service were all very good. As suggested everyone, have the Stamppot, delicious. Prices were very affordable. My wife and my friend enjoyed everything. If you want to have a special evening meal in Delft and feel like a local, this is an excellent choice. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

We had a truly delicious meal at Het Vermeertje, especially enjoying the delicious amuse bouches, the beef tartare with smoked egg and beef carpaccio appetizers, and very nice steak and fish main courses. My daughters devoured the desserts, especially the creatively presented "Milkmaid" chocolate dessert and an amazing strawberry/vanilla/pepper dessert. The flavors and presentation are stunning, especially given the very reasonable prices, and the kitchen clearly has a lot of fun preparing these dishes and in combining flavors creatively. The service is very friendly but quite slow - it took about 45 minutes from sitting down to order, for example.

The Stads-Koffyhuis combines the comfort of yesteryear with the quality of today. Get acquainted with local artisan products and award winning culinary creations in the âLiving Room of Delftâ. Whether itâs the homemade apple pie, the aromatic pancakes or
We choose this place for breakfast, mainly because of all the praise it has received. Location is brilliant, and the tables on the barge are just lovely. Staff was busy, but friendly and helpful. Coffee was good, juice fresh and tasteful. The renowned broodjes was in our opinion a disappointment.. They were not bad, but nothing we'll come back to experience another time. But a nice place and for our little boy the child menu with a toy was exciting.

My wife and I had dinner their 5 or 6 days ago and we both very much enjoyed the food and ambiance of this Michelin "knife" rated restaurant in Delft. In my opinion as good as some one Michelin star restaurants.Delft is a hidden gem of a town, and a must stay for at least 2 nights if you are in the Netherlands. Delft is a very old town with a couple of large churches and a large European style "square" full of cafes and places to relax and enjoy a beer or wine. It very much feels like being in France and feels very different to Amsterdam. We stayed at the Flying Fox Inn, the birth place of the famous Dutch painter, Vermeer. Also very good and well situated in the hart of this old city. Most of the cafe's and restaurants in the old part of Delft are around the main square or one of the smaller squares. Not so for this Michelin knife restaurant, it is tucked away in a corner and you have to go find it.It is well worth the find. We lucked out arriving at 7.00 pm to a full house without a booking and scored the last table. It was a Monday night, so a busy place and I would advise to book ahead. The menu is European style in which you can choose 3, 4 and I think 5 courses, basically a degustation type menu. You can also add matching wines, which is what we did. All the food is fresh and local from their district. They have a good wine list.Great food, great service, and a fair price, dinner will not break the bank.Tip: Go for a walk from your hotel and find this place well before you booking. Then no problem at night in the dark heading direct to your dinner reservation.Highly recommended.Thank you so much for you realy lovely review! It motivate our team, we realy appreciate.See you next time! When you stay in the Netherlands. With many kind regards,Team restaurant van der Dussen

Make time for this excellent restaurant while you are visiting Delft. Try to sit at a window table with a view of Beestenmarkt. There is a wonderful wide choice of menu items and a charming ambiance. A real winner.

Please call us if you don't see online availability. Located at one of the most charming little squares of Delft, LEF is an old time favourite of urban residents and students. At their terrace, it literately feels like being on the beach and during summer
After several less than exciting experiences with eating in Netherlands we were extremely pleased with LEF. Recommended by the proprietor of Bea and Blue, we trundled on down full of expectations. They were not only met, they were exceeded. The intimate seating, the tasty, quality food, the attentive service. A quality operation.
