We were told about the pancake boat by some friends of ours. We had been visiting the area so visited the boat on Saturday 26th November. We were welcomed by the host with a big smile and taken to a table overlooking the canal. Coffee's delivered to the table, which were perfect. My other half is a bit picky when it comes to coffee but he was happy! Although we don't speak Dutch the host spoke fluent English and helped us with a few words that we didn't understand. I had the pancake with mushrooms, speck and cheese whilst my other half had the special of Brie, walnuts, honey and rocket. As we were waiting for our pancakes a group of very kitted out cyclists came in for pancakes too. It looked as if they had been before as they were all welcomed with big smiles and an enthusiastic greeting (once again in Dutch so we were guessing what was being said.) Our pancakes came and were worth the detour!!!! I got 3/4 of the way through mine and then had to share. My other half finished his in record time! Will we go back again - YES! It is such a nice quiet setting, with brilliant links on the cycle routes around Belgium. Oh and the cyclists had rode that morning all the way from Antwerp for a pancake! Those of you reading who are English speakers, never fear they will take good care of you making sure that you have all of your needs taken care of! We will be back!

We visited this bustling little restaurant on the last day of our holiday with family friends. There were 11 of us and the staff were extremely helpful in accommodating our large group when we hadnât made a reservation. The food, drink and atmosphere are fabulous and I couldnât recommend the Diana restaurant enough. Given the owners were going on vacation the next day the menu was still good and the food quality was both tremendous and plentiful. We hope to holiday in the area soon and without question we will be returning. Thank you so much to the staff for a fantastic finale to our vacation!

Situated at a small yachting harbour you have a splendid view on the water and it's surroundings. The food is alright but not too fancy. It's more a brasserie formula. Service was correct. Ample free parking available. If you like a bit of a holidayfeeling on a sunny day, this is the place to be for a beer ( large selection) and a Snack.

Restaurant "De Kei" is actually a part of an airfield clubhouse. Due times of warm and nice weather you can watch the activities of the (sail) planes while dining of having a drink on the spacy terrace. Kitchen is serving typical Belgian Food and service is taking quit some time when the place is crowded. Food is average quality and a little pricy for what you get so not really value for money.

Seating outside is very nice. Service was friendly and quick.Menu offers the standard belgian bistro choices, nothing special on the menuThe food itself was priced rather high for the quality we got.Steak was tasteless an also not seasoned properly, sauce was rather greasyVery small side saladWines were rather low quality also. The red housewine was served way to warm and lacking flavor and depth..Also the white wine is not really recommended.Overall, nice scenery in summer, but very standard food at high prices.I was Not at all impressed

this is perfect place for a nice evening. We selected the surprise menu and were very pleased. All tree courses were well prepared and presented. The service was nice and friendly but a bit slow.

What Dave and Kris achieved in Balen is truly magnificent. They created a beautiful space where people can enjoy in a very convivial atmosphere the delicious food that is brought to the table. Being a vegetarian, I much appreciate the vegetarian menu that offers a choice that goes far beyond what you'll normally find in the better Belgian brasserie. The wines have been carefully selected and I cannot imagine anyone not finding something there that he or she can appreciate.
