This lovely small diner serves very good food for a reasonable price, it's not expensive.Note: due to weather conditions when people can sit outside, high Summer, there's a lack of staff.Anoter note: make sure you book in advance because the place seems to be popular.Inside, no smoking, it looks like a very small diner/restaurant with a bar and a take away corner. Must be said that the staff is friendly in a way you can only find here i this area of The Netherlands. It was certainly not my last visit, there are some lovely steaks on the menu aswell!

The downside of the hotel is the restaurant's limited choice of vegan/plant-based food. Not even a milk alternative next to coffee machines or dairy-free creamer in the room (How about some Alpro coconut/almond/oat or soya?) I would love a cappuccino!Despite promising of a good selection of vegetarian options on their website, the reality is different and the text on the website is clearly written by someone who isn't a vegetarian, or vegan. The a la carte menu only has about 3 vegetarian dishes from which one was sold out/unavailable yesterday and one was a starter. Staff proudly shared that there's plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. Really? All there was left as a main was the "knolselderij" with couscous and it was absolutely dry, tasteless, flavorless. The french fries saved the meal and that is never ever a good thing. Portions were small and we didn't feel like we got value for money or any protein for that matter. We also had a look at the buffet that only had a tiny table with a few bowls of salad somewhere in the corner and feta cheese already mixed with it. Breakfast was a little better as in: great juice maker, fresh OJ, fruits, baked beans, roasted vegetables, oats, bread. Again, could step it up with some nuts, milk replacements, yoghurt on coconut base for example. If van der Valk wants to attract future millennials and a younger target market its time to disrupt the current strategy from within. Solely changing its image and appearance from classic to modern interior and a new look on Instagram won't help. It's not about "grandma's simple Dutch food" anymore (potato, salad, meat, applesauce) it's about being on top of current food and lifestyle movement and a vibe that matches this day and age that van der Valk still misses. It's not about staff walking around like they are still in a hotel school, stiff and drilled like soldiers. (with all due respect to each and every one of them because they are hard working and kind) the problem lies in the way they are trained. Nothing about the current hotel vibe feel natural - kind of like a Goede Tijden Slechte Tijden set, except for their wonderful gardens and horses of course. It's time for nice marketing talks to practice what they preach. Millenials are well traveled, with a sense for good, high-quality culinary food from around the world. Van der Valk de Cantharel is blessed with a gorgeous vegetable garden and it's a vegan/vegetarians heaven to create something unique with these fresh products. Don't let them be the underdog of the menu. Take inspiration from other international hotel chains i.e. Hilton and Courtyard by Marriott, who are stepping up their vegan game with an extensive vegetarian and vegan culinary menu. We've another 2 days left, lets see how the menu is tonight. ;-)

The word RECHT has multiple meanings, like right, directly, justice and STRAIGHT.The owner places under the word RECHT the sentence 'straight from the heart' and that we also so experienced. It is a small restaurant for 42 guests. The owner and the staff were very friendly. The food was good and the wine as well. We will definitely come back in future.

On a last moment we made reservations. According to the site it was full hooked but when we called there was still place. We arrived earlier then planned and luckly the table was already free. The food menu is Nice , You choose 3 different starters out of 9, 3 different main dishes out of 9 and 3 different desserts out of 9. Price Total is 32,50â¬. This is a real Nice experience the food was real good and very Nice service of mostly very Young people . There is one min which is that the tables in the first part of the restaurants are much nicer with warm lights. We were in a separated part which is close to the kitchen door and waitresses passing by a thousand times . There is even one table in the direct lane to the kitchen and that is no fun. I would not accept that table . our table was just not that close so we could manage. Other than this it was a nice evening and next time i book table in the front. Thanks for your respons. Good to hear that you're experience was a good one. On a Friday and Saturday a last moment reservation doen'st give you the best table, next time call us ahead so that we can make sure the table is to your liking. Team Spicebrush de Proeverij

Vlak Naast Paleis Het Loo
The restaurant is closely situated from het Loo (palace), so in summertime also nice for a pre or post dinner walk. The food served tasted very well for all dishes, though for bigger groups we noted that not all dishes were warm. Service was disappointing in comparison to the quality of the food. Therefore on average 4 out of 5

Our Dutch friends thought we'd enjoy this special venue whilst visiting from the UK and it really is a treat from start to finish. Arriving on foot (you can arrange collection by golf buggy I believe), its almost like stumbling on something no-one else knows about in the middle of the woods! Starting with bubbles and nibbles outside we were ushered into the main restaurant (unfortunately all outside tables were taken) and were the only ones inside for most of the evening. The service and food are a real treat and portions are generous. It really is somewhere very special and I'd love to go again one day but be prepared to pay for the experience! The menu is limited and is not in English - from memory it was 4 or 5 courses with two main choices of menu but you can also chop and change a little. They are also extremely helpful with dietary issues as our friends son has serious allergies and it's the first place he's ever been served a truly special meal just for him!The winter snug and fire looks wonderful too.The only slight negative, and I have to agree with a previous reviewer, is that two of us had to sit in a window seat and had back problems by the end of the meal - not me luckily - but it is an issue in this calibre of restaurant. Also annoying when the rest of the restaurant was unoccupied. What a wonderful message, thank you very much! We're very glad that you've enjoyed the location and the food. And we understand your experience about the seating. Hope to see you next time!

Cozy and homely genietcafé. Large play area for small children with durable wooden toys. Separate lounge with library for seeking peace. Large terrace for our monument. Exhibition and art. Homely interior and fully organic cuisine. Within 60 seats, 48 out
Location is superb in a quiet garden courtyard. Good weather that day certainly helped but I can see how I can enjoy the place even on a gloomy day. My friend and I both had the croquette on bread, which was very nice. The selection was not huge but adequate. Service was good. We felt welcomed and our orders were taken promptly with patience to explain the Dutch menu, and the food was served without too much of a wait. I can see myself coming back here again.Beste Vortexz,Hartelijk dank voor uw feedback. Leuk om te lezen en graag tot ziens!
