As a frequent visitor I can only recommend this cosy restaurant.Inspired by an old train interior, with lots of train related items(the building itself was a train station back in the day)Friendly staff, and use of fresh products. Most delicious Belgian beers available. In the season, they also serve fresh mussels with french fries,a must try dish! After that, you can enjoy artisan made ice cream,or fresh homemade waffels and pancakes.Mmmmm! If you are a bicycle enthusiast, there is a nice and flat route, only a few meters away.Enjoy the beautiful and rural landscape!Filip

This review is easy: There is a friendly , helpful staff, a nice atmosphere, good value for money food.. A vast choice of different beers makes it amusing to choose :-)Just went there today to eat an ice cream... You can choose between a dozen of different ice creams all very good priced ( average of 7-8 euro ) . There is also a kids play garden , fenced from the pond so they can enjoy themselves without the adults worrying they will fall into the pond.If you like to eat a simple , but good platter ...This is the place.

Every Sunday we go there to have a couple of beers (Affligem, Rangske, La Trappe, ) or some glasses of wine combined with a snack.

After being given a voucher by some of our friends and also because a second couple of friends recommended this place too, we decided to have dinner there. We reserved around noon for the evening of the same day. Reservation was accepted immediately and reply was very kind. When we arrived, we were welcomed very friendly. The restaurant is nicely decorated (old farm style with some old machinery as well as from an old brewery I think) with a lot of wood. The menu is pretty extended for a "Brasserie", but we selected the Suggestion Menu at a price of 48 euro. All elements of our menu could be found on their menu list individually and totalling them up we arrived at a cost of 67 euro's. So, their suggestion menu is a good deal. But more importantly, it was very tasty and all plates well very nicely decorated too. It included cocktail of the house, starter withsmoked salmon and scampi, fish or meat (we choose the meat dish), a chocolate dessert and coffee to finish off.We asked for the wine list. They have wines in all price ranges with their most expensive wine being some 47 euro's. We ordered 1/4l of white and 1/4l of red and asked for 2 additional glasses as we wanted white with our starter and red with the main course. Additional glasses were brought on the spot. Prices of their house wine are very reasonable at 6.5 euro per 1/4l, 12.5 euro per 1/2l and 18 euro per bottle. Both the white and red were of good quality. Funny enough they do not have rose as house wine. Yet, they do have a sweet white dessert house wine. Service was good and the waiter was extremely friendly. We will certainly go back.

Coffee, lunch, brunch & croque bar at the center of Aalst
We set our GPS to this Cafe, found it, parked on the street for 1⬠for 40 minutes. After asking several people for directions, we found the building...but despite hours listed on this site, the placed was CLOSED.

Cheese croquettes are passable but only because they are clearly bought in and deep fried. Vol au vent is terrible because it is basically a gunky sauce with no taste and barely reheated served over cold chicken, tinned tasteless mushrooms and rancid pastry. Never again!

This week I went with a friend to the restaurant "De Frigo" in the centre of Aalst - Belgium. The butcher's shop has been around since 1910 with an insanely beautiful authentic Interior! It was closed to be reopened last year after years as a butcher shop and meat restaurant. The meat you want to eat you can first choose it at the counter, and afterwards the chef wil bake it according to the rules of art. We chose this time for a light lunch namely Waterzooi and for dessert, a chocolate mousse with on top passion fruit. The Waterzooi was super tasty and light. The chocolate mousse was definitely ok but the top of passion fruit was a bit on the sour side. We were very much pleased with the quality of the food and also with the price for such a lunch. Everything was served with a big smile!. We paid for 2 times the lunch + aperitif and a glass of wine + 1 coffee the price of 52.80. Definitely recommended. I'm going back soon to try the meat concept.

We went here for a lunch this time, together with our 1 1/2 year old son. We sat in the garden which is cosy, but plain. The food and service are always great. Basic, pure flavours and sufficient vegetarian or gluten free options available.

Our starter was some recommendable sort of local version of vitello tonnato a lot and the tasty meat was cooked as requested and served nicely. It was definitely reasonably priced for the quality of food, service and location - donât understand why some locals are so shocked about the pricing.

We had a wonderful dinner here with friends on a Tuesday night. The building is beautiful, as is the restaurant so it was an impressive start. The service is exceptional and our welcome was very warm. We started with the house apero, a vermouth with champagne and red fruit cocktail, on the table was delicious dips and a crisp to enjoy while we were reading the menu. We all went for the 4 course month menu with wines: I'll let the my photographs do the talking but to add everything was amazing! One of the best meals I have ever had. It's not cheap but neither is it Michelin price, however the food is of Michelin quality imho. A great find, we will be back or sure.
