Yreka (/waɪˈriːkə/ wy-REE-kə) is the county seat of Siskiyou County, California, United States, located near the Shasta River at 2,500 feet (760 m) above sea level and covering about 10.1 sq mi (26 km2) area, of which most is land. As of the 2010 United States Census, the population was 7,765, reflecting an increase of 475 from the 7,290 counted in the 2000 Census. Yreka is home to the College of the Siskiyous, Klamath National Forest Interpretive Museum and the Siskiyou County Museum. Its gold mining heritage is commemorated by the high school team which uses a gold miner as their name and mascot. The city is also one of the possible capitals of the proposed State of Jefferson, alongside Redding, California and Port Orford, Oregon.

Stopped here while travelling down I5 interstate for some early dinner with the family. Good menu selection, they serve breakfast, lunch or dinner all day. Friendly staff. Large portions. Stop in and grab a bite; but bring a hearty appetite!

The food is very good, If you want a nice quiet place to eat do not go there when its lunch time for the high school. The high school students order earlier in the morning so there lunch is ready when their bell rings, but then the place is loud and super crowded and chaotic .

We were there on a Sunday morning about 8am. The food and the service were fabulous! We both had basic 2 eggs, toast, hash browns and either bacon or sausage. I had bacon and the other person had sausage. I generally don't like sausage, but this place was the exception. We asked for the hash browns extra crispy and they were. The staff was very nice and I really loved the cute little signs in the diner, ie: "Sometimes I take baths because it's hard to drink wine in the shower." A terrific diner!!
