Upbeat 50's style breakfast & lunch restaurant with an eclectic flare and incredible food...anything from pancakes to Belgian waffles topped with glazed strawberries and whipped cream or omelettes, Chicago style French toast, huevos rancheros, Eggs Benedi
This was recommended by a local, and I can say it was worth the trip. We all ordered something different from the menu, and no one went away hungry. The decor was fun. Reminded me of a kitchen from the fifties. It did not take long for breakfast to come either. The biscuits and gravy were one of the best I have had outside of my grandmother's. Homemade bread and strawberry jam. The omelets were good size, and the pancakes were the same size as the plate. Will be back to visit again soon.

We live in the area and have gone to Carmen's almost since their beginning. We usually do breakfast, but enjoy lunch there, as well. If you like a heavier bread, try their Tree Bark. It is a favorite with my family for their toast. I usually order one of their daily specials .I've never been disappointed. Check their days and times. Sometimes they change during the winter months. Avoid busy times for breakfast and lunch. You may have to wait.

This cafe was a great spot for a good inexpensive breakfast prior to heading to the ferry. Being celiac I had no difficulty having a gluten free breakfast, even to my surprise with gluten free toast. So, for those departing or arriving on an early morning ferry I recommend stopping at Lakeside for breakfast.

This place is very good for breakfast but I really have never been impressed by lunch. The service is almost always good, especially if you sit in Kathy's section! Their prices are reasonable and the wait time for seating and food is usually very short. It really beats the chain restaurants in Muskegon for breakfast or anything on Apple Avenue.
