Truly authentic, rustic, Italian and Sicilian food in Stratfords only proper wine bar.Terrific, comprehensive range of wines - in every taste, and price.Great tasting room experience, without price shocks.Atmosphere and ambience of a Mediterranean bar, with food. Really fresh Caciocavallo, grand Aubergine Stew, and, Oh! so authentic beef and veal meatballs, in tomato, oreganoand olive sauce. Made extra special with topping of Tellegio cheese.No downside to this great find, even 3 draught lagers, and a ' yankee ' I. P. A. for beer lovers !

Dinner in Stratford Upon Avon can be something of a hit and miss affair. Many restaurants have early bird deals, some offer discounts if you show your theatre ticket. Carluccio's offers neither. Indeed the waitress seemed indifferent to my request for prompt service. She shrugged and said that everyone was on their way to a performance. The implication being, she wasn't intending to put herself out to give me peace of mind. This is particularly annoying if the performance starts at 7.15pm rather than the usual 7.30pm. If you are looking for a quick exit, it might be worth being specific about when you need to leave. From an extensive menu, I choose the mushroom risotto. It was dull, and the glass of wine I ordered to go with it, wasn't cold.. I was not offered table water or extra parmesan and although I asked twice for the bill, I had to go to the counter to get it. As a single diner on route to the theatre, I would not recommend this option.
