I have been here serval times and it has always been good. The service has always been with a smile and I never really waited long for a good sub. One time I did go there the woman seemed to skimp on almost everything. I did ask her to add more, I mean come on don't be cheap, which she did. The place was clean.

Hidden behind Home Goods on the Stop & Shop side of the triangular shopping center, you'll need to look for the flagpole and the hidden Courtyard to find this local hangout. The place is small, the staff is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. The menu is simple and I feel the cook could use a bit more seasoning in the food. But based on the elderly clientele I saw, it's probably best to allow them to season their own food. It's easy to forget about this place because it is hidden, but it's worth a try.
We frequent the Subway in Deep River a great deal...mostly because of the $5 footlong. We have no problem with Subway Corp., but the ladies who work at this particular Subway are always rude and abrasive. They never smile or appreciate your business. Esp. since we support our local high schools football team who provide a card to receive a free beverage with purchase of a footlong sandwich, you'd think that they would be happy to see their customers using the card and providing regular business. But no, attitude emits only with presentation of the card. Oh and don't be surprised if you ask for bacon and you get a lecture about how it is a $1.00 more! As if the consumer can't read?! How insulting. Esp. if you go at least once a week and they recognize you. I'm sure the pricing hasn't changed in 4 days on bacon! Geez! Overall: Lose the attitude ladies! Oh and by the way, we don't support the hiring of underage workers...
Not far from I-95. Plenty of parking. Servers were cordial. We eat Subway grinders traveling across the country and this is one of the best.

One could easily drive or walk right by it and not see it. That would be a mistake. Fresh, reasonably priced, unique items. Look, don't complicate it, just go.
Where to eat Pizza food in Essex: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Nice to see a small breakfast resturant that is not trying to be something its not. You got a couple of nice ladies making real food in a timely manner. Bacon egg and cheese sandwiches are awesome. Nice selection of pastrys. Coffee is Green Mountian and is self serve so you make it just the way you want it. Lots of locals all just supporting a nice little resturant. You wont be disapointed unless your expecting Dennys or IHop. Walk in, relax, get your food, enjoy it and be happy a place like this still exists. This is Deep River and this is how we do it. Please leave a tip they deserve it. And that goes for all you local regulars too. Nice people running this place and not becoming millionaires doing it. They are regular people being a great part of a nice small town. Enjoy!

Fantastic country store with a great deli - wonderful salads, sandwiches and prepared foods. Wonderful market selection & now quaint eat in tables!
As the tv series, Diners, Drive-ins and Dives has demonstrated many times, small towns often have delis/stores and restaurants with great culinary pedigree. Coffeys is one. Hidden behind a modest facade in a two store strip mall is a gem of a caterer and small grocer. Worth a visit to pickup a sandwich or dinner or even have your wedding catered. It can be that good!
