We had lunch, and chose to sit outside. We both ordered fish and chips, with beer. We got the beer about five minutes after ordering, which is acceptable. The food arrived in reasonable time, considering this was lunch hour. It tasted good. Service was without critique. The price level is as you would expect in a coastal Bornholm village, i.e. on par with Copenhagen. The buildings look nice, and the garden is pleasant and has a small pond. Children's chairs are available (though we had to fetch it ourselves from inside the main restaurant buidling). We had a good time, and would visit again, especially as there aren't that many similar places in Sandvig.

Kiosk mit eigener Sandwichkarte, Softeis, selbstgebackenem Kuchen, Kaffee, Tee usw.
I've been a regular in Hammerhavn a couple of years, and I am still surprised by this ordinary kiosk serving the most delicious homemade cakes. If You decide to take the popular trek around Hammerknuden, pass by here for a coffee, and dont't cheat yourself of the substantial, well-made and reasonably priced sandwiches. The view of Hammershus alone is worth 5 stars.

We came here from the recommendation from pension Holmegaard (another great review) and wow we were not disappointed. We had the fish special they had which was light fresh and delicious. Local fish served with a tasty sauce accompanied with asparagus, carrots, and cauliflower. They also gave us fresh bread with a tomato and pepper compote sauce also very delicious and a side of new potatoes. Prices reasonable considering Bornholm is an expensive island enjoyed by the Copenhagen's hardworking. Very friendly and helpful staff. They helped explain the menu which was not in English and kindly sat us when we didn't have a reservation. Very sad I did not get a photo of the dinner which was a piece of art and tasted out of this world. Dinners were priced between 145 and 198k. Average for the area and midrange.

A Junk Shop. This is the overwhelming, but joyful impression when you step into the big shed of a former boatbuilder in Sandvig. You see decrepit junk everywhere, on every wall, even dangling from the ceiling: Discarded cameras side by side, several enamelled advertizing signs, namesigns from long-gone fishing-boats, model ships, ceramic memorial plaques, hurricane lanterns, old one-liter beer mugs, even ordinary paintings!Already the boatbuilder was able to divide his working space in half, by the use of an elevated wall that he was able to lower, and thus make the inner half of the shed more habitable to work in. This wall is still in use in the Café in the cold winter months, when eating guests are fewer. The movable wall has an entrance door from a former hospital: âSecond Floor of Bedsâ.The things that stand out here are two old 6-seater sofas upholstered in leather, a row of cinema chairs from when Gudhjem movie theater was renovated, and another row of chairs from the ancient but still functioning Rönne Stage-Theater. Only later, when you are blinded by the glaring horizontal rays of the setting sun, you discover that the window roller blinds are in fact big old school atlases.Once a year the restaurant staff dust off all the various items of junk with a wet cloth.Walk the Plank. One of the menu items here is having the food served on an oak plank directly from the oven: Salmon, chicken, minced meatball, even a vegetarian plank-serving. Your food keeps warm for a longer time than if served on porcelain. So, go all in: Walk the plank. All the dinner-tables are different, though slightly of the same height. Likewise the dining chairs differ in design. However, on top of the tables you are welcomed by appetizingly white table-linen.My wife and I visited twice. In a funny way, all this junk beckons you with a home-like feeling.
