After researching TA, I wanted to book a reservation here immediately since we were going on a Saturday night. I called the restaurant about three weeks before our travels and ended up communicating with chef Paolo through What's App. Paolo said the place was about 25 minutes from our hotel in Lezzeno. I didn't think that was a big deal until we arrived and the hotel said a taxi would be 90 euros ONE WAY to get there because it was winding roads and straight up hill. (Lesson learned, renting a car in Lake Como is probably a good idea). So I communicated with Paolo that it didn't make sense to pay 180 euros for transportation. He then quoted us a much lower price for both ways, and then sent Marina (his mom? not sure) to come get us. Now THAT is service! We had one of the best meals of our entire trip. Plus, the view!!! He split the Beef Carpaccio into two generous portions, same with the Pea and Mint Gnocchi. Both were fabulous. Then are main dishes were some of the most tender meat we have ever had; the Suckling Pig, and the Beef with Polenta. It was a nice change from all the fish we had been eating. The service was attentive and friendly (Paolo's girlfriend) and we got to visit with the family at the end. What and exquisite experience we had all around. Lovely little restaurant in old building. Have the Trout entree it was sensational. As was the apple tart. The risotto was not so exciting. A friendly authentic restaurant when you want to get away from the crazy crowds and tourist energy. Not easy to find but worth it.

I highly recommend Da Gigi. They offer an excellent menu with choices combining local ingredients with a bit of eclecticism. Moreover, extremely friendly and informative service is thrown in for good measure. I could not resist trying at least one of the antipasti, primi, secondi and dolci and I can confirm that they were all top-notch. This tiny little restaurant is off the beaten path on the eastern shore of Lake Como in Lecco. If you are willing to put in your map time, you will not be disappointed. There were only eight tables set up the night we visited. The menu is all about fish. I am typically a meat person, but still enjoyed the fish preparations. The other members of my family who usually choose fish, thought the meal was outstanding. My oldest son started with the fish sampler and said it was the best fish he had ever eaten (he has eaten a lot). The recommended wine was very good, yet inexpensive. Multiple hand prepared deserts were brought out on a cart and served from there. We couldn't pass up. The chef came out and visited with us for 10-15 minutes after our meal. The restaurant is a family affair started by his mom and dad in 1984 and still located in his parents home, although he now lives upstairs, cooks, and runs the restaurant. Reservations are a must. If you find yourself on the eastern side of the lake, give this gem your patronage.

Very nice always crowded place because of its small size. Really warm and well furnished with raw wood, marbel and stone.Fantastic selection of homebrewed beers.Local and quality food really well presented with some unique proposal (like the sweet fried potatoes).Just one note about the guy which tap beers (one star less for this point): one smile, sometimes, will not ruin your face...
