Everything about Trokay is lovely. The service is knowledgeable, helpful, and attentive but low key and gracious. The atmosphere is comfortable but elegant. Most importantly, the food is exceptional in all ways: inventive without being pretentious, expertly prepared and presented, and, yes, delicious. We were with a pretty discerning crowd and every plate was wiped clean and everyone left with big smiles and enthusiastically impressed. We did not expect this in Truckee, but Trokay would hold its own anywhere in the world. A very, very pleasant surprise. (And, compared with comparable restaurants in any metropolitan area in the world, pretty reasonably priced imo.)

We are a family of four including two teenagers. After a long drive of 9 hours we were seated quickly on a busy Saturday night despite not having reservations. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was attentive. We ordered the porterhouse family meal to share. It was one of the best steaks we have eaten. The mashed potatoes were great. Would not hesitate to visit again next time we are in Truckee
Where to eat American food in Truckee: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We went here for the first time on a recommendation. They opened several months ago and had growing pains. We were pleased with our meal and service. Lane was our waiter, friendly and helpful. We had Filet Mignon (A-) and Pot roast (A+) The vegetables were a little under cooked (Better than over cooked) The portions were generous. We brought our own wine ($20 corkage) but the wine list was fairly priced. The setting is nice and it is a cozy place. Looks like it may become one of our favorite places.Unless you are a resident of the community, reservations are required since it is a gated community.
