Dinner on Easter Saturday with every seat in the restaurant taken and a small staff sounds like trouble but in fact was an absolute delight. Small but perfectly formed restaurant, with very special food that really had massive taste sensations. Wonderful staff, family run restaurant. Full of both French and foreign visitors, including a party of eight who loved everything as much as we did. 42 euro set menu, combined with a superb bottle of wine for 45 euro, made for a great dinner. Loved it. You will only find this restaurant if you are looking for it, and there are plenty of ordinary places close to it that are best avoided. Seek it out and you will be very pleasantly surprised. Whether visiting Toulon for the rugby or just for the food, make sure you visit this restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

Returning to Toulon after a 40 years absence, I had to go to the corniche du Mourillon and later to Port Magaud where I lived for one year in 1974!We had a perfect dinner at the Local and were delighted by the quality of the food, the choice of local wine, the kindness of the young couple managing the place and the ambiance. Definitely the place to be in Toulon where you can also find a lot of tramps....

The big thing about this little restaurant is that it is gluten free. That's absolutely wonderful if you need to avoid gluten, but not so good if you expect to eat tarts (for that is what they serve) that taste like they were made with "regular" pastry. There is quite a big difference that those who are familiar with gluten will notice immediately. On the other hand, if you are coeliac and need to stay away from gluten, this is a wonderful place to come and eat because the owners absolutely guarantee that everything is GF. And the tarts taste good too, even if some of the combinations might seem a little strange at first glance. Tarts are both savory and sweet and both taste very good. Worth trying if you're in the area.
