While many visitors come for the beaches, arts celebrations and fiestas, San Sebastian-Donostia is serious about its food and drink. The Old Quarter’s narrow, winding streets are full of bars and restaurants, and in the modern city, sidewalk cafes are all around. The city specializes in seafood. Just make sure you know not to expect dinner at 6 or 7 p.m.—that’s much too early in Spain. Instead, tide yourself over with tapas, and enjoy eating and drinking late into the night.

With so many places to eat we took a chance to visit this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had studied the set menu including wine and water earlier in the day and turned up without making a booking. We soon realized that we were lucky to get a table as the restaurant filled up very quickly. The décor and ambience of the restaurant was spot on. The standard of food was excellent with plenty of choice and the service was friendly, efficient but unrushed even though the restaurant was full, with people being turned away. All in all, we enjoyed a lovely evening at this restaurant and it was clear to see that the waiting staff really enjoyed their jobs and worked hard to make the overall experience enjoyable and relaxing.

Bar restaurant in the Center of San Sebastian. Haute cuisine of rations and pintxos, dynamic selection of wines and beers. We serve from the first coffee in the morning until the first drink in the evening. Dish of the day every noon of working day
We had a wonderful dinner at Xiri on a Saturday evening. The restaurant / bar was busy but we were able to get a table for two without a reservation. The waiter recommended an excellent vermouth cocktail (only â¬3.50) and my husband had a really nice local beer. We took further recommendations for specials of the day and ordered a delicious tomato salad with olive oil and salt, 2 x Iberian pork (you could do just one and share as a taster) and 2 x hake. Each dish was so delicious! Itâs hard to say, but maybe the hake was our favourite? We also had two desserts and another glass of wine each. All up our bill was â¬50 and we thought this was very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food we got!! In fact, we were surprised at how cheap it was! Our friendly waiter also brought out two small glasses of a local liqueur to end the night. All up, we would definitely recommend this restaurant!! 5/5!

Morgan in the midst of Old Town, has a menu with the picture of a horse, Cest Moi. I guess they named the restaurant after a horse. Food was really good. They offer a three course lunch complete with wine. Roasted Hake was prepared just to perfection, as was the Braised Iberico Pork Cheeks in red wine sauce. The Caramelized brioche bread pudding with ice cream is to die for.

The TRACAMUNDANA is a restaurant and pintxos bar. Traditional basque cuisine with avant garde and fusion accents. Quality and well presented dishes with a reasonable price.
We dined at Tracamundana on a Friday night, on arrival the front bar had live music. The restaurant is towards the rear but part of the area has tables for bar diners. The menu is typically Basque but does feature the elusive vegetables in the form of a rather good plate of grilled mixed vegetables. Recomended as a shared starter or to accompany what will be a meat or fish dominated main course. Crusty white bread comes with a modest pool of reasonable quality olive oil. There is a good selection of good quality wines by the glass as they use a special device that maintains the cork seal on the bottle but allows the wine out through a hollow needle. The octopus leg starter was one of the best I have had (I am working on having had all 8 at some time). It was accompanied by another rare Basque restaurant item, nicely roasted and salted baby potatoes. My wife's hake was fairly standard for the region. My boned sucking pig was good, tender pink meat, not too dry or fatty. Accompanied by two pieces of sweet potato. Overall, we felt that the food, whilst good, was below what we would have expected in San Sebastian. Maybe a higher grade restaurant for really good food is needed. Still, change (just) from â¬100 for two.

After pintxos lunches, we looked forward to a sitdown dinner. Based on reviews and availability, I booked La Muralla and it did not disappoint. This is an outstanding restaurant, and very reasonable for the quality of food. Everything was tasty, well executed and plated nicely. The service was also very pleasant and efficient. Lots of good choices on the menu. I booked on line without any issues. I strong recommend this restaurant when visiting San Sebastian.Buenas tardes:Muchas gracias por dedicarnos su tiempo, nos alegramos mucho de que disfrutaran en nuestro restaurante.Esperamos verles de nuevo.Un saludo

AGORREGI restaurant, located in Donostia-San Sebastian, offers to his clients a quality service and dishes made using the best ingredientes selected by the chef Gorka Arzelus. Welcome.Gorka Arzelus has worked with the best Basque chefs: Martin Berasategi,
I was treating my boyfriend with a dinner in San Sebastián for his birthday. Iâm so lucky I chose this restaurant even though itâs not in the city centre. Totally worth the taxi drive! The food was impeccable. We had a tasting menu and waitress completed it with matching wines. Service was perfect but still relaxed (I donât like too serious service). If I ever return to San Sebastián I will definitely come back!
