Enjoy a calm and quiet breakfast while watching the world wake up with clear views from Seidelberg to Table Mountain. Or join us for anything from a light citrus salad or warm and hearty lunch along with our house wine. Ruitersvlei Mountainside Restaurant
An internet search for a local restaurant for breakfast in Paarl turned up the Moutainside Restaurant at Ruitersvlei...best decision we made all week! We had previously driven past on our way to The Spice Route without even noticing it, more the pity. We were the only ones in the dining room when we arrived and their charming staff bent over backwards for us. It was a freezing morning so a fire was lit and we were given a view looking out over beautifully manicured lawns with mountains in the background...perfect! We were starving so chose the biggest breakfast on offer...an excellent choice; generous to a fault it included fried eggs, bacon, tomato, lamb sausage (note to self...find out the name of the Butcher!), large brown mushrooms, home made bread with butter and jam. We washed this down with copious amounts of cuppacino...couldn't fault a thing. Charming (yes, I'm repeating myself) and attentive staff...who went to the trouble to take us on a tour of their newly renovated rooms in the accommodation wing as well as their large functions hall, perfect for weddings and conferences. If we had've know that accommodation was also offered at Ruitersvlei (with breakfast of your choice thrown in) and at the competitive rates on offer...we would've booked in there and then! Beautifully decorated rooms with rates to suit all budgets. Dinner is also on offer, booking necessary. Adjoining the dining-room is a wine tasting area...although we didn't taste their wines, if the 'nose' of their merlot is anything to go by...superb...delicious! Our experience here, albeit short, got our day off to the perfect start and it was the perfect ending to our week of work in The Cape.
Been here a few times already, but today's visit was totally amazing. Had 'The Chihuahua' breakfast which consists of two slices of toast with smashed avo and two poached eggs.ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT!!!Delicious and beautifully presented, these guys know how to keep patrons happy. Will be back again and again and again.... Thank you @thee_infamous for your wonderful review! See you soon!

Located at the Polo pavilion, overlooking the pristine polo fields, the renowned Polo Club Restaurant and Black Bar offers spectacular views of the polo fields and mountain ranges paired with a unique dining experience.
I feel the prices are ridiculously expensive for extremely small portions. Waiters are somewhat rude . The vibe is quite snobby! The vibe one gets from some of the staff is very condescending. With snarky comments under their breath made towards us as customers sometimes.... not appreciated. ( look Iâm not saying itâs everyone that works here, itâs purely my opinion)

Our restaurant is set in a beautiful country garden where we serve lunch outdoors if the weather is favourable and indoors beside a roaring fire in the chilly months. We have a varied a la carte menu, served from Wednesday to Saturday offering a wide vari
I hadn't been to Backsberg for years, A massive improvement. Their wine was always good but their food, everyone enjoyed.A had the hake.... very good, but the rest of the family and friends had the lamb burgers.... this was a huge quantity of sliced lamb off a spit... comes with roast potatoes etc.The chenin blanc was ridiculously cheap, table price same as the cellar. It was a Friday. Not crowded. Dropped in for coffee one morning at this lovely venue but the service was not as good as expected. My sandwich should have had sweet chilly but there was none so I had to order extra and the the guests at a neighbouring table called for the owner because they had a complaint, so all was not well at a place that has all the potential to be very goodWhen the invoice came they have added advice for you on the bottom which calculates how much the gratuity will be at 10% and also 12%.I suggest that they improve the service before calculating what gratuity they want

The Rhebok restaurant, has long been popular with locals for its delicious seasonal food, paired with Rhebokskloof wines. Diners can enjoy the view from the terrace as they enjoy breakfast or lunch, or be served by the fireplace inside the restaurant. The
We visited the restaurant on a Monday lunchtime, arriving a little late because of the rainy weather. The friendly manager showed us to our table and left 2 menus with us. The menu is a little limited but, in any event, we knew what we wanted. We then had to wait about 10 minutes for our waitress to come to our table for the first time. My wife ordered a steak, well done, and I ordered the pork belly. About 15 or 20 minutes later, she brought some bread to the table - which was started but not finished by the time the food arrived. While my pork belly and particularly, the pumpkin fritters, were delicious, my wife's steak was underdone. Since it was too big to finish, she took the red parts of the meat home where she finished the cooking of the meat. What made it really frustrating was that, when we arrived there were only two other tables, at least one of which was being serviced by another waiter. While we can accept that a restaurant on a farm is a little more leisurely than one in a shopping centre, say, it is unacceptable for the service to be so slow that one becomes accutely aware of the tardiness. Also, either the waitress did not relay the request for the meat to be well-done to the kitchen or they messed up.The manager was so congenial that we did not complain strongly to him, but after we left, my wife said: "Never again...".

We've had numerous Lunches and Dinners at Faber since Avondale 'gave birth' to this new venture. Chef Dale Stevens, has undeniably dethroned his predecessor. What a dynamic change - the food is beyond delectable - it's honest, simple and hugely flavoursome, with presentation that looks like original artworks. Very..........yes, very few Chefs in the Cape Winelands and Cape Town can knock you out with the way they do meat and fish - Chef Dale Stevens' touch will send anyone to heaven and back.........for more! Well done - the Restaurant has actually gotten a very welcoming atmosphere, with Kat, who is ever-so-divine and her Team of polite, smiling, efficient and professional waiters. The new Dessert on the Menu - Wow! they've transformed the 'suburban guava' with its 'crème fraiche ice-cream', into an orgasmic experience. Faber should be a must on everyone's bucket list. Oh,Yes! Not usually a wine-drinker - I delighted greatly in Avondale's new Limited Edition Qvevri - perfectly indulgent! Hopefully, next Season we'll see some Interior Refurbs and Artworks that will 'Pop' and transform Faber into more of a "Destination Experience'. We, our Friends and Guests just love Faber!Thank you theeyemusttravel for your stunning review! Thank you for your kind words about our staff and feedback on the interior. We are thrilled to hear you have enjoyed each visit with us and we look forward to welcoming you many more times in the future!Warm regards,Kat, Dale and the FABERteam

Restaurants and food.
Visited for Saturday lunch. Although the restaurant only had about 5 tables, several waiters and a âhostessâ, service was glacial. Our starter plates and empty glasses remained on the table for 20 minutes before being cleared. We then ordered some wine which after 10 mins still had not arrived after which point we left. We could see the âhostessâ had been made aware of this but seemingly could care less. As for the food, the risotto was completely overcoooked into a mush. Awful.
