The population is 696,382 (2016 est.) in an area of 64.95 km². It is among the world's more dense cities, similar in density to Tokyo and New York City. It's considered the major urban centre of the Western portion of the Greater São Paulo. It used to be a district of São Paulo City until February 19, 1962, when Osasco became a municipality of its own. The city motto is "Urbs labor", Latin phrase that means "City work".

An excellent restaurant in the Alphaville area. Lamb is the specialty and is very good. However, I also tried the tuna encrusted with sesame and was excellent. The Lemon Rissoto was great. The Nutella cheesecake is very good also. Many options in a very nice place. I honestly love this place. Always when I can I go there to enjoy my time with my husband. It's a romantic place and also a place where you can go with friend. The idea of having different food trucks everyday it's brilliant. I love it.
