The Wild Fig is a fully licensed Restaurant and Bar situated on a portion of the Valkenburg Estate. Our Restaurant is situated in a fairly new building that was built as a part of the restoration of the Valkenberg Manor House. Our bar is situated in the o
Nice to see varied options that you don't find on other menus including game meat. The options make the experience more interesting, and the service was very friendly. I had their signature dish (duck) and my wife had a lamb shank which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Soak up the atmosphere of our timeless dining room while savouring much-loved classics and impeccable service. The elegant, wood-panelled space dates from the hotelâs inauguration in 1899. It was here that, in 1994, President Nelson Mandela welcomed the w
We dined here this week, and had a most enjoyable meal.Lovely historic room, well spaced tables. We shared the signature beef Wellington, and it was still too large for 2. But it was excellent.Wine list is well sized and with good selection.Good service.Overall a good experience.Dear Northern Wanderer, thank you for the beautiful review, we are truly delighted that you had such an enjoyable time with us. Best regards, Johann

Eat Out San Pellegrino Chef of the Year Scot Kirton together with highly acclaimed La Colombe pastry chef Glen Williams to open an exciting new restaurant and bakery at the High Constantia Centre.
We booked this restaurant a few days before our arrival as quite close to our accommodation and appeared to offer interesting menu choices. Traveled on dark country roads to reach this small village parade of shops and restaurants. We asked to move table as that offered was slightly away from main diners by colder window. There is a 7 course tasting menu or 5 course dinner menu- we chose the latter as did not like a couple of dishes on tasting menu and could choose what we wanted. Each dish was presented nicely and staff explained the constituents. All were tasty and we each had different items so could try each other.Service was a bit sporadic-not always same waiter and sometimes appeared slow. The restaurant on Friday eve was busy but not full. People seem to eat early so we were one of last to leave having arrived about 7-40.Having just arrived to the area price seemed great compared to what we would expect to pay back home- at least 50% difference favorable.Hi Phil,Thanks for taking the time to write a review, I'm glad you enjoyed your time spent with us!Kind regards,Glen

It was Heritage Day....and we walked here from Company Gardens. Even arrived before it's 6:30 PM opening and Jane was MOST cordial.Liked the atmosphere...sort of funky......our waiter was Simon and he was terrific! The complimentary starter was delicious. the Jordan House Wine "hit the spot". My bengal Fish Curry did NOT measure up to the curry at Seabreeze, but that's OK and hubby had the RUMP in blue cheese and garlic sauce. Superb. However, Jane, the portion of wok veggies that came w/the rump could certainly be MORE ample. Portion of wok veggies MUCH too small.Had a great conversation with the couple at the table next to us.Dinner with tip................R 668. By the time we left most tables were occupied!

A delightfully unsophisticated restaurant, just off Main Road and opposite the station. easy parking and access.Al offers a small and simple menu but does everything superbly. We have never had a bad meal there, it's always an enjoyable experience thanks to the banter with Leanne and Al and of course the excellent food. The steaks are good but I tend to go for fish and have enjoyed better sole and kingklip at Al's then at restaurants known for their seafood.Prices are reasonable, service is informal, it can be a little noisy, but it has a charm and character which guarantees that we keep going back.

A South African and Japanese gastronomic hybrid experience by Peter Tempelhoff, Jennifer Whittle & Ashley Moss
This has to be my favourite restaurant Iâve ever been to. From the moment we arrived the team were so attentive. The taster menu is excellent and even better with the paired wines. Everything blended so well together. Brilliant service, great tasting food and wine. Next time Iâm here Iâll be back. Fantastic

The Conservatory, situated adjacent to the historic Cellars-Hohenort cellar, offers diners unparalleled garden vistas from both the sun-drenched terrace and the indoor tables. Carefully constructed around a giant 300-year-old oak tree, The Conservatory is
I had a wonderful Caesar salad with just the right combo of anchovy, bacon bits, cheese and, to crown it off, a crumbed, poached egg with a melty, yolky middle. It was as yummy as the view of the trees and the incredible, formidable oak smack-bang in the middle of the restaurant! Also, the bread basket is irresistible! The presentation is also worthy of comment...Dear LaurenShantall,Thank you for the feedback. I must agree with you - the Caesar salad is definitely a great dish.Looking forward to welcoming you back in the near future - if you have not visited already.Kind regards,Angie

This is a proper world class restaurant the food experience starts in a dark room where you have a great beginning to your evening and as the waitress Louise promised it just kept getting better which considering how many courses there are seems impossible,I wonât describe the whole evening as that will spoil it if you are lucky enough to go.The chef owner Luke is at the helm working as hard as the rest of his brigade and occasionally having a minute for a chat ,Cape Town is lucky to have such a world class chef .The wine pairing actually worked very well which is rare these days and they arenât stingy with it either.Thank goodness for places like this and people like Luke pushing to make a great experience for us to enjoy.

I am staying with good friends a short walk away in Newlands and they know The Vineyard well being long time Residents here.We walked across for dinner this evening having made a reservation for 7.30 pm at The Square.Tastefully decorated with soft music being played in the background. The place was reasonably crowded when we arrived.A fairly limited dinner menu including the Chefs Specials, Salads, Soups, Mains and Desserts. The lady went for the Salmon Trout Roulade for her starter followed by the Beef Burger with Cheddar Cheese and a portion of Chips for her mains. Her husband and I both opted for the Chefs 2 Course menu. I had the steamed Hake followed by the Neck of Lamb with Chickpea Biryani. My friend had the same Mains but had the Fig Tart with Gorgonzola cheese for his starter.Adequate portions and good quality food was the unanimous consensus. We had a bottle of Cabernet Merlot 2013 from the Constantia region which went really well with our meal.We passed on desserts. Reasonably priced.Service was acceptable although not outstanding. The Vineyard is an old established Hotel in the area and is set in well landscaped gardens. The Square is one of several restaurants here and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.

A state of the art dining room and cutting-edge kitchen sets the scene at Greenhouse, where produce of the Constantia Valley and the region are presented as culinary creations in an intimate taste space. Here guests are invited on a multi-sensory journey
Truly one of the best meals I've had, not only in South Africa, but anywhere. Quality, creativity and calibre and friendliness of staff all set the Greenhouse apart. It was so good the first time I went back the next time I was in town with friends. Also deeply appreciated the ability of the staff to cater to a finicky teenager who was looking for something less exciting than the full chef's tasting menu.
