I have already eaten here several times and every single one of them I was not disappointed. The service is amazing and the food is the best. Itâs a hidden gem outside of the city of Guimaraes. I strongly recommend eating there since you can have some tradicional meals or have something a bit more different Thank you very much for the comment.I look forward to your next visit. Many greetingsLeonel Carneiro

Home of the best Francesinha (a special type of sandwich typical of Portugal) you can try, with a wide selection of beers, hamburguers and mediterranean dishes.
We enjoyed delicious francesinhas with two different types of fries. The restaurant is very family friendly and has highchairs.

Coconuts is a pure and mythic local cafe/bar, located in the hearth of the walls of Guimarães. You will find a small, but probably the most cosy place in the Historic Center. During the day, you can seat outside, in front of "padrão" and the monumental Ch
We went to Coconuts twice on the Sunday we were in Guimaraes. The first was in the afternoon, sitting outside and people watching on the square. The second was for dinner. A number of restaurants in the historical district are closed on Sunday so we chose to return to Coconuts. Although the menu is limited, we had a hamburger, steak sandwich and salad all of which were well prepared. We also had the opportunity to watch a football game with the locals and it felt like being in your small neighborhood bar at home watching a game. The staff was very helpful and we didnât have to wait very long for the meals. As usual, the only delay was when we wanted to pay the bill and even that was not a problem. We were very pleased with our meal and the service at Coconuts

Over all the service was very good the manager very kind This place is well dressed up but don't be disappointed if the food quality is not what it looks like from the menus and the previous review

42 Seats restaurante, close to the train station, one hotel with 3 and another with 4 stars, a 5 minute walk to the center of the city. Tapas and tradicional portuguese food
5 stars! Having travelled extensively throughout Portugal.....I was very impressed with Paula's. I have always had a soft spot for Portuguese food and spent most of my travels in the Algarve. The food served in the north of Portugal and here in Guimaraes was fantastic and entirely different to what you would get in the Algarve. Paula and her team were very professional. Our order was taken promptly and we were only waiting a few minutes for our starters to arrive. For my main course I had skewered squid and potatoes. The squid was cooked to perfection...very tender and juicy. I would highly recommend this restaurant to any tourists visiting Guimaraes.

What a cute and friendly place. Our waitress was so helpful and friendly. She even gave us suggestions on places to see in town. We received complementary shrimp appetizer like a croquette. Fried sardines were amazing but seriously we had never in our lives had octopus that flavorful and tender. The portions were large also. The back of the restaurant is large and airy and offers a nice cross breeze A review like yours is the most valuable feed back we could ever want. Our work has a much greater meaning. Makes it all worth it.Thank you so very much !!! :-)

We are a friendly place located in the historic centre of Guimaraes, a World Heritage site since 2001. We serve traditional portuguese food, together with some contemporary dishes, but we are known for the "Francesinha", soaked in our own delicious secret
Dona Maria is right around the corner from the main square but virtually miles away from the main tourist routes. It was a fantastic random choice for lunch. Local specialty Francesinha is a sumptuous layered open sandwich with different meats, cheese and egg (tomato sauce is slightly overpowering). Stuffed mushrooms and garlic shrimps were also excellent. Bread was accompanied by tasty alioli (or, "alho" in Portuguese) sauce. Loved it.

We dined here with a large group and our dinner was served family style. Excellent meal, the heavy reliance on bread on the plate of starters being the exception. We especially enjoyed the deep-fried hake, tomato rice, and duck rice (with bits of sausage and topped with cheese, served casserole style). The plate of desserts included an exceptionally good chocolate mousse (dense, rich), lemon tart (topped with meringue), fresh fruit. On the starter plate, the codfish cakes were excellent. I'd definitely return here if I find myself in Guimaraes again.
