Reviews on Contemporary food in Dunedin, South Island, New Zealand. Rare yellow-eyed penguins, fur seals and the world's only mainland albatross colony share residence in Dunedin, New Zealand's oldest city. When you're not watching wildlife, this South Island Otago Coast town also boasts impressive historic architecture from its days as a gold-rush mecca. Visit the 1906 Flemish Renaissance railway station or the country's largest center of higher learning, which resembles Glasgow University, thanks to the area's early Scottish settlers.

Under new ownership, Brew is a unique little eatery in the heart of Musselburgh. We offer a relaxed and cosy setting for your daily coffee & scone, or an evening meal and beer or wine.
Delicious food, welcoming atmosphere and friendly wait staff. I highly recommend this place if you want to get away from the hussle and bustle of town, easy parking and value for money. Choice of menu or cabinet food so there is something for everyone from a bagel to a steak. The food on the menu were very decent sized portions.

Visited on a Wednesday night without a booking. The waiter was happy to set us up on a window seat table which allowed us the most beautiful view of Dunedin at night. Caesar salad for entree was delicious and steak was equally as good. Lovely evening and would totally recommend.

Really enjoyed brunch here one Sunday. The Starfish stack and smashed avocado were great, and the coffee good too. Service surprisingly quick given how popular it was. Would recommend this for brunch or other meal.

I came upon this delightful cafe while out for an early morning walk near the university, on a visit to Dunedin. It has a charming, bright interior and great decor with plenty of comfortable seating. Staff are welcoming and attentive. There is an excellent range of delectable cabinet options, utilising mainly organic foods where possible, and caters very well for those with GF, LF or other specific dietary requirements. The menu offers a superb range of choices to appeal to most palates. The fair trade coffee has excellent flavour and is prepared by a skilled barista.

Ironic is a very convenient, centrally located cafe, that has a good menu, and Thursday to Sunday has gluten free savoury scones on offer. They also do a lovely gluten free berry and coconut cake. The coffee is wonderful, as are the staff. It is located opposite the magnificent historic train station and I would definitely recommend a visit here.
