Reviews on Contemporary food in Crieff, Scotland, United Kingdom. Crieff (/kriːf/ ( listen); Scottish Gaelic: Craoibh, meaning "tree") is a market town in Perth and Kinross, Scotland. It lies on the A85 road between Perth and Crianlarich, and the A822 between Greenloaning and Aberfeldy. The A822 joins the A823, which leads to Dunfermline. Crieff has become a hub for tourism, famous for its whisky and history of cattle droving. Attractions include the Caithness Glass Visitor Centre and Glenturret Distillery. The nearby Innerpeffray Library (founded about 1680), is Scotland's oldest lending library. St Mary's Chapel, adjacent to the library, dates from 1508. Both are open to the public: the library is run by a charitable trust, while the chapel is in the care of Historic Scotland.

We visited the Lounge as a big family group. Service was friendly and efficient. The menu is varied and interesting.I had Caprese salad for starter and a tasty smoked mackerel, olive and poached egg salad for main.Others had galettes, fish and chips, salmon fillet with quinoa and a fish board which looked amazing.Definitely would recommend.

Weâve eaten in the café here on a couple of occasions and it always been ok. We decided to visit today to do a little shopping and have some lunch. There were very few people in and the café was quite cold. The waitress cleaned a table in a booth for us and said âbe with you in a minuteâ. We chose from the menu quickly and waited for her to come back to take the order. She did everything but that. She seemed intent on chatting with two ladies whom she obviously knew and was getting them to taste some wine. They continued to chat - personal stuff not anything to do with the café - and we were just forgotten. After 10 minutes, my husband said he wouldnât wait any longer and we left. I mentioned what had happened both to the young girl behind the counter and to the lady who served us upstairs in the delicatessen. She said that sometimes, when theyâre busy, customers should put their orders in at the counter. They were anything but busy. There were only four people in, the place was deserted. If we needed to place our orders ourselves, why didnât the waitress say that? Why did she say she would be with us in a minute if patently she wasnât going to do that. We went elsewhere to eat. In fact it took us three tries to get a table somewhere as everywhere else was full! What does that say about this café? Donât think weâll be back in a hurry.
