My wife and I and another couple had a special evening at Penrose this week. Fantastic experience. We chose the 3 course offering which was plenty of food. I enjoyed the cod after a creative lobster salad. My wife had a great steak and salad. The service was outstanding and wine list was huge but offered several price choices. Bring your wallet but sit back and enjoy a great meal.

Since 1974 The Margarita at PineCreek has been serving fine food, spirits, good times and memories. Our focus has always been on serving great food in a comfortable setting. Our eclectic cooking style is innovative, yet recognizable and we use the freshes
Wow! What a "hidden gem" this restaurant is! I've always seen the entrance, from I-25 and thought it was a Mexican restaurant. Nope. It's a true fine dining experience! Our party of three was there to celebrate my husband's and my 20th anniversary. We had the five course meal and everything was delicious! The meal started with a shrimp cocktail appetizer that had some homemade chips and salsa and was quite flavorful. The mushroom creamy soup had chunks of mushrooms and tasted delicious with the bread that came out at the same time. I liked my sesame-something-or-other salad (be forwarded: it has lots of garlic) and my husband and daughter said the house salad with balsamic vinegar dressing was good. Two of us had the steak and one had salmon - all three were cooked to perfection. And the dessert... Well? What can you say about delicious desserts? We appreciated the excellent service provided by Amanda who did not make us feel rushed. She was pleasant and answered our questions. The atmosphere is quite lovely, with plants all around. We took a walk outside, and saw there was a live band.We will definitely come back for future special occasions!

I was visiting family in Colorado Springs. Given the huge number of chain restaurants in Colorado Springs, I was excited to try something local.Walter's location is nothing remarkable: (like so much of Colorado Springs), it's located in a strip mall, surrounded by other restaurants. You don't expect much as you park and enter.Thankfully, it's a nice little local place inside! Fairly expensive for the area, but I thought the quality of the meal made the price fair.Very traditional decor; some of the carpets and chairs were a little worn around the edges. Relatively quiet atmosphere, although the bar was busy on a Friday night. An early dinner crowd, though; we arrived at 6:30pm and it was busy. By 8:15pm things were getting quiet.Traditional atmosphere, too, but with class. White tablecloths. Menus in leather binding. Servers who were dressed-up and formal in their approach. By no means a trendy place, but a nice place to have dinner with family to celebrate being together or a special occasion. The menu was relatively traditional, with European influences. Nice variety of specials off-the-menu. The menu had a nice set of appetizers, several salads, and an assortment of 10-15 main courses. I think everyone could find something they liked; the main courses featured a nice variety of proteins, a couple of pastas, etc., including vegetarian options. The food was beautifully presented and well-prepared. The flavors were nothing surprising or too original; I'd say the meal was largely classic dishes that were well-executed by the kitchen. I also appreciated that the portion sizes were reasonable! All were impressed by their food. We shared some onion rings to start; these were delicious and among the best onion rings I've had. Salads were good; the Caesar salad was very heavily dressed, but had nice flavor. The beet salad was superb. Everyone enjoyed their main courses; I ordered lamb off of the specials menu, and it was prepared exactly as promised and served with flavorful mashed potatoes and some vegetables that were perfectly prepared (i.e., carrots had great texture, as did asparagus). The short ribs were fall-off-the-bone and the salmon had a nice exterior texture and a perfectly pink interior. The dessert menu also featured a nice set of traditional things: Boston creme pie, peach pie, chocolate cake, etc.Overall, a very nice meal in a traditional establishment. I would certainly return. Hooray for local establishments in Colorado Springs!

At The Warehouse, we're dedicated to inspired western food, craft beers and cocktails, and a refined-yet-casual experience!
It's an interesting venue, a bit off the beaten path. The staff was great, the atmosphere not quite cozy, but not sterile by any means. We were a large group, seated at a big table and it fit well. Everything on the menu sounded amazing, prices are definitely on the higher end. And due to that I expected high quality and unique flavors (they had quail, steelhead trout, scallops, lamb shank and the likes to choose from). Unfortunately, while the quality seemed just ok, the flavor was just not there. I had the quail cordon bleu, and quite frankly, I think they forgot the Serrano ham. My husband had gotten the special, was also not impressive. Also, I'm not a huge eater, but even for me, the portion was on the small side. Unfortunately I don't think we'll be back, had hoped to find a new fun non-chain place. We are sorry that we weren't quite what you expected. Our food is usually full of flavor, but if the Serrano ham was left out that wouldn't help. We do hope you'll give it another try sometime and we thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback!
