Reviews on Contemporary food in Charlottesville, Virginia, United States. The former home of three of America's founding fathers, and the current home of the University of Virginia, the city of Charlottesville, Virginia is suffused with an appreciation of history and intellectual vigor. Take a tour of the university campus and walk through grassy malls and grand buildings designed by Thomas Jefferson, or peak into the dorm room once occupied by Edgar Allen Poe. The great homes of America's early presidents, Monroe, Jefferson and Madison, are also open to the public.

Public Fish and Oyster is a full service seafood restaurant and raw bar specializing in fresh, New England-style seafood in Central Virginia. Our commitment is to hospitality, quality ingredients and fair prices in a warm, inviting atmosphere.
Public was hosting a party, so we sat outside. It was a little warm, but that was to be expected. Unfortunately, many of the oysters were sold out at 5:30 pm. While disappointing, we enjoyed our happy hour meal. The waiter was not very attentive and seemed to prefer the indoors.

Upscale casual cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere at the Shops at Stonefield, Charlottesville, VA!
Our server was great. He took our drink orders right away. He helped us pick out an entree and then brought it as soon as it was ready.

The Mill Room is Old World cooking for the New World. History runs deep here â from our original wood beams in our dining room dating back to 1834 to our long legacy of farm-focused, regional cuisine. Executive Chef Dale Fordâs menu is built around Virgin
Friends decamped for a stay in Charlottesville and while we didnât stay at the beautiful renovated resort, we had a delicious meal the Mill Room. The food was outstanding with a happy table all around. Having wine toured during the day, it was fun to pick a glass of the local wines off their menu. The food was excellent and the renovation is so very tasteful. I particularly loved their take on caprese salad on toasted bread. The most important aspect, a quietish but lively atmosphere and an excellent waiter. Would highly recommend. Dear travelwws,Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We hope you will soon be back for dinner in the Mill Room.Best Regards,Fabrice Reffay
