I saw this name appear on many flyers and sponsored events around the West Indian/Caribbean Community so I made a mental note to check it out sometime. Recently, I was in the Winter Garden area and the opportunity was ripe for the taking. Get itâ¦ripe, golden apple? No? Well, allow me âGolden Appleâ is a tropical fruit. Nestled right next to the Department of Motor Vehicles in Winter Garden, sits this tiny little storefront. The decor and furniture is modest but seems very comfortable. There is a pool table that greets you and a sit down bar. Taking a second glance it is rather large in there. Very good for large parties or families. I had no intention of sitting down, since most West Indian restaurants in Orlando are pretty much just take out with a few chairs or tables occupied by men drinking beer. Much to my delight the staff was very accommodating and friendly. So I saddled up at the bar and let the young lady be my guide.Donât know if you realize, but there is a large Chinese population in Trinidad and Guyana, so it just goes that Chinese food is very common. The menu is divided by West Indian predominantly Guyanese style and Chinese dishes. Most Orlando Caribbean restaurants are better at certain dishes and not so much at others. Golden Apple boast their Chinese dishes. When asked what makes their Chinese dishes stand out, the confident young lady replied, âOur sauce is specialâ.I followed her lead to the House Special Fried Rice. Did I mention that this was a Halaal Restaurant? Oh yeah, shame on me. What is Halaal? Food that is permissible for consumption following strict Islamic laws. No pork here. Which brings me back to the Fried Rice. The al dente rice consisted of thin sliced beef, chicken, and shrimps all stir fried. There are several, okay alot, of baked chicken on top of this rice. The special sauce is slathered on this baked chicken. Ah ha! That is what the young lady meant. This dish comes with a side of hot sauce. Be forewarned, if you are not accustomed to West Indian hot, donât mess with it. Portions are also very huge. Small is really big. I washed the Caribbean niceness down with a clean, crisp Guyanese Beer called Banks.All is well in the cool laid back West Indian vibe. This is a nice little rare Caribbean gem that you can actually sit in and enjoy some sweet Guyanese cuisine. I canât wait to go back and try their curries and other items.

This is not my favorite Chinese Restaurant,but I do like their Wonton soup the best. The broth has good flavor, with a hint of ginger. I'm not a fan of the fried rice here. I like my rice with a brownish color instead of yellow. More NY style flavor is what I look for.

I went to lunch with some friends at Panda Express recently. The restaurant was clean and well-maintained. The restrooms were clean enough, but needed a little touching up. I know during a lunch or dinner rush the restroom can need attention pretty quickly. The service was average. The staff were efficient and informed, but they were not friendly. I don't mean to say they were rude, they were simply not interested in personalizing the service and so it was cold and efficient.The food was pretty good. It is fast food so it is not authentic Chinese and one would not expect it to be. The quality was fine and the portions were good. The restaurant was a decent choice for a lunch with friends.

I tried this chinese restaurant because it was close and was rated pretty high on Tripadvisor. Strip mall setting with walkup order area and 4 tables to sit at. Clean, fast service and fast food. I ordered special combination C-10 Chicken w/ broccoli, egg drop soup, pork fried rice and an egg roll. Soup was tepid and served right away. Platter came next and even though you could see steam coming from it, it was not hot. Taste is subjective and I found this to be mediocre. Would I come back? Let's say I want to try someother places first.

They have the best Chinese food around; egg rolls are always fresh and crunch; w/ lots of shrimp.The food is always fresh made and is always HOT! Best FRENCH FRIES in town too! kicks McD's butt!

Beef and Broccoli were good but quality of beef was a bit sketchy, Moo Goo Gai Pan was perfect. Fried rice was to be shrimp but got pork instead which is why only four and not five stars. White rice was good but did not reheat well. The shrimp toast was greasy and I would not order it here again. The egg rolls were OK. Meal was a good B plus.

Decided to try Pei Wei for something different to burgers etc and on the whole wasnât disappointed, you put together your meal choosing a rice dish, meat or shrimp dish and finally the sauce which are all displayed as you enter the front door.Good selection and good value.

Husband and I decided to stop by on a recommendation from a coworker. We thought it was your traditional cooked-foods Asian restaurant (Chinese) and were seeking a good sushi restaurant on this side of town. We went during their sushi happy hour and sampled several different sushi items. Happily, everything was delicious - great quality, good taste, great price during happy hour. It's a smaller venue than I expected, but it's clean, well-kept, and good service, so we'll definitely return and/or order out in the future.
