If you really, really love authentic Chinese food, you should save your dining dollars. This is fairly standard Americanized Chinese cooking. Lots of predictable, cornstarch laden brown sauces. Even the spiciest items on the menu are rather bland. The service is quick, however, and the takeaway portions are large, so it a pretty good value. Just donât expect anything special.

Reasonable American Chinese food. Fast, easy on purse and always an expected standard. Its a good Panda Express franchisee as the chains go. Food is always hot.

JMJ This is a cute little place near many Purdue University apartments. The phone was having trouble so no credit cards the day we visited. This is a busy place but they have a lot of kitchen staff and things moved along quickly. Nothing fancy about the foam plates and plastic utensils. Food was hot and tasty enough. Price was OK for the lunch special. If you are in the area and crave Chinese than it's average fare!!

We stopped in for a quick lunch today while our dog was being treated at Purdue. The thought of another boring lunch at Panera Bread just was too much, to our surprise the Peppercorns Kitchen (next door) was a very happy surprise. Terrific food, amazing service and a menu which is also a huge surprise with many specialties you normally do not see at most Chinese Restaurants. I loved the flavors, the portion sizes and the exceptional presentations.

There is a 12% service charge added to every meal. That was a first for us. we usualy tip 20% at dinner if the service is good but we noticed this added on service charge at 12%. Legally they can do this. But it must be reported as wages not a tip and so the waitress will not see the money until her next pay check. Now that we are over that shock. The meal was pretty good.we had shabu shabu (a japanese dish, but this is a chinese restaurant) with a pork broth (there are for to choose from) and pork (there are many options to choose from) and udon noodles (there are 4 to choose from). You also get bok choy, mushrooms, tofu, napa and an egg. You toss this into your broth (which has an adjustable flame beneath) and cook it like you would a fondue. Only it's not oily. It's a broth so you can eat that as well. For experience it's 5 star. I've not had a hot pot since a trip china. And it is hot pot. it doesn't come close to shabu shabu i've had in japanese restaurants. Not sure why they don't just call it hot pot. For flavor we only give it 4 stars as the broth was over-reduced and we both thought they were a bit chincy on the noodlesWe also tried the cauliflower with pork off the chinese chinese menu. they have both american chinese and chinese chinese (in english) dishes. The pork turned out to be overly salty bacon (not pork belly, that would have been awesome). The cauliflower was fresh and delicious. The dish did not have much flavor or heat but the cauliflower was good on it's own.The service was very good and the food came in about 10 minutes which seemed plenty fast to us. the important thing is that we enjoyed and look forward to going back the next time we are in the area.
