Friendly service from mainly Cantonese staff (but Mandarin, Cantonese, Dutch and English are all spoken). Ambience is a little shabby, but the food is great, the kitchen will prepare however you like your food, and the price is low. Our favourite source for takeaways. Especially recommend the crispy duck (Wor Show Ap), and the Joy King prawns.

Yes, you can eat the 'usual suspects' at this restaurant: meaning dishes that every typical Chinese restaurant might serve. And supposedly they are of excellent quality. They have a buffet, and that also is supposed to be excellent. I would not know, because I've came here for the fine dining, which is listed on a separate menu.Their fine dining, how excellent it was. Contemporary, nothing traditional, and modern :those are the keywords here. Small portions, so you'll need to order several dishes: and this is no punishment. Everything we have tasted had excellent fresh ingredients and sublime taste. This is what modern chinese cooking should taste like. On the down side, if anything, the fine dining was a bit expensive (the other options at this restaurant are more budget friendly) but it was certainly worth it. The decor was more reminiscent of a run-of-the-mill restaurant than a place where you go for fine dining, but that probably is because both are valid options at this restaurant. Alexander also is quite off the route. You can get there by car, train (Station de Vink, restaurant is opposite the station), or public transport. But I would certainly not recommend walking from city center It would take at least 45 minutes to get there on foot.

Who would think that the best Rijsttafel to be found would be in the little village of Voorschoten, outside of Leiden. We found this restaurant through our hotel concierge while we were staying in at The Holiday Inn in Leiden. We expected nothing much at all.We were very pleased and surprised when the owner came over to the table and proceeded to bring out the biggest and most delicious Rijsttafel we have ever had. Every dish was freshly made, every dish was expertly spiced. There were at least 25 dishes on the table. Since we had no idea if the Rijsttafel would be any good, we also ordered duck. The two of us finished almost the entire Rijsttafel. The owner, who speaks perfect English, was the perfect hostess. If you are in the Leiden area, come here. If you sneeze you will miss the restaurant, but hold your sneeze, because the food is excellent. They also do take out, and had we known about this place sooner, we would have come here every night during our week's stay in Leiden.

We got a take away from here twice while on holiday. The first time we ordered 4 meals for 4 of us, the second time we ordered 2 meals for 4 as the portions are so big.The food is all excellent, with the chicken curry full of vegetables rather than the meagre onions and mushrooms at home.My daughter ad a meal that had little bits of a few things and it was lovely, although it was meant to have crispy noodles and they were soft, but still delicious.I even ate the sweet and sour chicken balls, which at home I hate because of the awful batter, but here they were lovely.
