Things to do in Vanua Levu
We were staying in Labasa for two nights and after eating here the first night came back for the second. The menu has plenty of options and the food was tasty and well cooked. The serving sizes are generous and both time we had two stir fries or curries, two bowls of rice and a glass of wine each and neither time did we pay more than $40.00. Compared to some of the fast food places on the main road this was excellent value.
Awesome Indian home made dishes with the taste of home. Just like mum made it or better. Goat, duck, fish, chicken curries. Veggies dishes. Pulaus and other snacks. Good service family own resturant with taste of true South Indian influence in cooking. Must visit you'll be back.
Visited for a snack lunch during the week. Place was realtively busy with a mix of locals and visitors. Whilst food menu looked nothing special there was a good range of food and beverages. We ordered sizzling stir fry and a spicy chicken disk. All was delicious, albeit quite spicy (3 of us like spicy dishes so wasn't an issue for us). Service was curtious and efficient. The decor is a little dated and possibly makes it look a little grubby, although still clean.
I have had great eating experiences at all other place is Savusavu, - decked out, seaview, oasis the royale, the wok, country kitchen, but thought I should venture up the stairs and try chong pong for a change. The grime was a bit off putting but I decided to try the basic staple of Combo fried rice for my first visit...The food was very disappointing, the rice had very few flavours, the meat was mainly bits of fat and the vegies were frozen mixed vegies- even though I could see the market with its many fresh vegies from the window where I sat. i will go back to my old favourites next time i eat out and dont see any reason to try Chong Pong again.
Where to eat Seafood food in Vanua Levu: The Best Restaurants and Bars
We stumbled upon this little gem of a restaurant. This is the cheapest, cleanest, fastest restaurant that we ate at in Fiji. Each dish ranges from 4-6$FJ and you watch them make it in the back room, practically while you are ordering (it's not that big of a place). The sweet and sour chicken was our favorite. The Colour Dragon won the award for being the cleanest restaurant in Labasa for 2012 and is run by a man from China who was a surgeon. Great service, great food! So cheap!

Been coming here for years, most recent visit saw us experience the changes we'd heard about. Put in a VIP room with air con, a little disconcerting as we're used to the main room, but made you feel a little special too so no biggie. The wait staff are great with their attention, yet not too pushy. Salt & Pepper Squid was great - big serve always makes you smile a little more. Prawn dish was really good too. No beer on-tap any more which was a shame. Overall, nice to eat here again, but like most local places, do take your own TP!
Newly opened pastry and coffee shop with fresh fruit juice and smoothie. Great variety of food which includes Indian, Chinese and European. Great place to relax both indoors and outdoors sitting courtyard.
We went to Sugarlicious for dinner following a recommendation from our hotel. The restaurant has just opened and is run by a husband & wife couple who cooked us the most incredible curry. We were served a selection of lamb, chicken, prawn and fish curries (all of which were excellent) and a fantastic dhal. This is real home cooked authentic style curry, which is packed with flavour. In fact, we liked it so much that we booked in again for lunch later in the week. It is a little hard to find - down an alley off the Main Street in Savusavu, but well worth the effort. The restaurant itself is very small so probably worth booking in advance. Much appreciated, pleasure to be able to serve all of you.Vinaka

We had takeaway one night and dined in the restaurant the next night, the food was absolutely beautiful. We sat outside as there is a covered area looking towards the harbour. Fresh seafood and delicious stirfry, I can not recommend this place enough.
