well, i was hungry and i went hunting for restaurants, though the restaurant wasn't visible initially. i entered the Africa house hotel to have a look. As i proceeded in, there i saw this restaurant, I approached the staffs there asking if they had a table for one, the staffs immediately replied with a pleasant smile and got me all tucked in for the lunch. I ordered for some sea food indian dishes as well as some indian breads. While i was waiting for them to deliver my food i saw this gentleman talking to a few europeans i suppose, and then he moved on to the next table again talking to the customer, well to be honest i was curious what he was up to ? , after a couple of minutes i got my breads placed at my table followed by their special sea food dishes, i proceeded with my meal since the smell itself got me mouth watering and stomach grumbling, the lunch was absolutely fantastic i loved it personally and i would go there anytime i get the chance again. As soon as i was done and the table was cleared, this fine gentleman approached me asking me how my food was, i told him my honest opinion that i loved the food and would love to come here again, he smiled at me saying "thank you for your valuable opinion and we would love to serve u again" and i was curious who the man was, and i asked him about what he does here, and he was like im the owner of this restaurant and me being baffled asked him, why would you walk around asking customers about their experience and he told me that well, he serves food from his native place and it was immense pleasure to make sure that the customers feel happy when they leave the restaurant having our food. well after that we chatted for a while and then i left. Overall i never expected such a fabulous lunch time at a small place like this, and the experience i had with the staffs and the owner where the best. i would love to share this experience to all of you and would ask you to go and check this place, you would love it.

Although new, this restaurant has become a quick favorite for residents in town. I frequent the place at least once a week and recommend anyone visiting even more than that! It is very refreshing that a new Chinese restaurant has opened in town, and one that is spacious with good lighting and a clean exterior - of course not to forget the delicious and fresh food that they serve! However, the true highlight here is of course the team - both wait staff are friendly and warm and provide great service, which is no doubt due to the influence of their Manager who himself exudes warmth and care about his restaurant and most importantly, his guests' experience. Thank you to the entire team and you will definitely see me back again very soon!

In the heart of Stone Town is the Pagoda Chinese Seafood Restaurant. It is a Cantonese restaurant along the back roads near Kelele Square. I found the long walk up the multiple steps to be good exercise. At the top was a dining room circa 1950s Chinese restaurant décor. The Chinese hostess told me that they had a special Chinese menu with Cantonese specialties. From that menu, I ordered a Seafood Casserole Soup as a starter. It was rich and creamy with fresh seafood from the Indian Ocean. It was followed by a fresh, spicy Bean Curd dish that whetted my taste buds. Last, the fresh Grouper was served whole sprinkled with sliced ginger, scallions and light soy as if I was in Guangzhou. Overall, the service was efficient and the meal outstanding for such a place far from China.

Expected more considering the other reviews. Service was slow.Starter didn't turn up. Main courses had an oddly gluey texture and both tasted pretty similar as if the same sauce had been used with just some veg added to one. Quite pricey for what it was. Lots of other places do veg curry probably better.
