Grew up with a Chinese girlfriend that had an Aunt and Uncle that owned a Chinese restaurant. They spoiled us and cooked all our favorites and some things that were not on the menu. Since they retired we have tried all the Chinese restaurants weamw upon. Non compared. Until now. This was the best Chinese food we've had in 30 years. It's in a strip mall near shop rite, kohls and Home Depot.Excellent, authentic Chinese food.

This restaurant offers some great lunch special options. They are very accommodating and food is freshly prepared so your personal preferences are ensured. Restaurant is small but nicely set up. Prices very reasonable and if you prefer sushi they offer a wide variety! Extensive menu options for anytime dining.

West lake is not by any means a fancy place. You might even be turned off if you pick up from there, but the staples: Shrimp w Lobster sauce, Sesame Chicken (w Brown Rice), Spare ribs, Egg foo young, are delicious .. the specials are not very good.I love how the young kid who picks up the phone, takes your orders. He listens, doesn't ask any questions, no matter how big your order is, and he remembers it perfectly, first listen ... try getting that service anyplace else, especially when ordering Chinese food over the phone. My family always jokes about their deliveries because they're so fast. My sister suggests they are psychic and that they cook the food along the way, seriously, that's how fast their deliveries are when you get off the phone. I have ordered from West Lake for years. They have the best Chinese, take out (the staples) in the area.

You would not expect to find outstanding Chinese food in this area. Most food is passable at best. But this restaurant is consistently excellent. I have never had a bad experience. They have a pretty large menu and have recently added sushi. I usually order garlic shrimp, General Tso's, and chicken and broccoli which aren't exactly an adventure but I imagine everything is wonderful. I no longer order from anywhere else.
We have treid it a couple times, different dishes each times. Everytime we have to doctor the food up with soy sauce or terriayki sauce. We have stopped trying the dishes. They do cook the food fast for take out only restaurant, but they need to use more seasoning (not MSG). Needs a good cleaning also!!

We had the California Sushi Roll and Beef Lomein dinner. Both were excellent. This restaurant was a welcome surprise after a long day on the road. The venue was spotless, It was attached to a Quality Inn which made it very convenient for us. The service was excellent and we will return.
I have been going to this Chinese restaurant since 1982. Watched the kids grow up and work in the restaurant. Can't believe it was never reviewed on Tripadvisor. Designation as # II may indicate a recent management change, but it is still great. This is a traditional NJ style Chinese, with booths, tables, one from A, one from B, and combo plates. Free won-ton noodle chips and duck sauce, free bottomless pot of hot tea, chopsticks. May sound funny, but I've moved and these items are not included in Florida or many new style Chinese/Thai/Oriental restaurants. And this is Chinese, go somewhere else for sushi. We always order à la carte. We had our 3 specialties on the table in minutes. All very good and properly prepared large servings. Good firm textured rice. We have done BYOB in the past and believe it is still acceptable. Good value for take out. Look forward to returning on our next trip north.
I'm a lifer around these parts so I've been eating at Yangtze Kitchen since their inception many moons ago. Their food is above average for Chinese. The restaurant is always clean. It's not really geared for a sit down meal as there are only a couple of tables. It's more of a takeout place and the variety along with quality of their food is always good. If you are in or passing through Netcong, try this place. I doubt you'll be disappointed.
