Taishuxi is not as famous as Quanjude Restaurant, but the food is very pulular among local Beijing people and those who living in Beijing. It is the best place to try local Beijing food, the price is reasonable. The restaurant is nearby to Dongyuemiao Temple.

The number 6 is considered lucky because it sounds like the word meaning "flowing, smooth, or frictionless".This restaurant works primarily with tour companies and is able to fill the many private upstairs dining rooms with groups of tourists. They are lucky -- as in the number 6 -- if a group is at the beginning of its Chinese tour and finds the glass lazy-susan style new and interesting. They are less lucky if the group has already been to umpteen indistinguishable family-style Chinese restaurants.

This restaurent offers best Beijing Duck in town. For 2 persons 1/4 duck is more than enough. Very delicious, friendly service.

This is a great vegetarian Buddhist 'fake meat' place. You can get a large meal for $4 (Y30) a person. The menu is in clear English. Though the wait staff speaks little English, pointing to the menu works just fine. Even my friends skeptical of all things

My Chinese colleagues took us here for an extensive meal here, 19 dishes in total. There were 2 dozen of us. Nearly all dishes had a 'meat' name, such as vegetarian duck, ham, eel, mutton, fish, etc. The food was beautifully presented and tasted great. If you did not know it was a vegetarian restaurant you could almost believe you were eating meat dishes. anormally i do not go to vegetarian eating places but would happily return here again. Well worth it.
