Went here with family on Christmas Eve with 5:30pm reservations. Got right in to our table and received our appetizer and drinks right away. Downhill from that point on! Took over an hour to get our entree. Food was lukewarm and bland, especially the Mu Shu pork which is listed as one of their specialty. Was Told by waiter, who cared less, that the kitchen was filling takeouts before in restaurant patrons. Place was packed but that should not be an excuse

Great China reopened at 2190 Bancroft Way on the corner of Oxford in Berkeley two years after a fire destroyed their Kittredge St. location in 2012. It is only a block away from the original restaurant and has a more contemporary feeling without the crowded tables or any stairs that the original building had.The menu is similar to the original with many of the popular items still available. We often order the Double Skin and Peking Duck..... both are recommended. Other selections that we have tried are very good to excellent.Service is usually very good and attentive. The restaurant is well maintained and clean. It is a James Beard Outstanding Wine Program Nominee and a Michelin Bib Gourmand. This restaurant is one of our favorites in the East Bay... we sometimes travel from the South Bay just to eat at this restaurant.

Peking duck, âDouble skin,â seafood soup - simply delicious, amazing food. Iâve never had Chinese food like this before. Flavorful, fresh, and light. My friends told me about this place a long time ago, and I finally got to go with them. They went early to stand in line before 5 pm, when they open for dinner (Saturday; they donât take reservations for small groups). We got a table, and we (well, they) ordered quickly - and the food was ready quickly too. Very efficient service. But the food is the highlight - simply wow. Beautiful space too - modern and spare. Full bar.

Been eating at Yan's for years at their Lafayette location, near my office. They relocated to Orinda this year and same good Chinese (Cantonese) food. We prefer it over any restaurant in Chinatown even though it's more expensive. They have parking and a nice quiet dining room. Highly recommend their chicken chow fun (best in the San Francisco Bay Area, no one makes it their way), black bean sauce chicken, egg plant chicken, and Mongolian beef.

It's a nice clean family owned Chinese place. We do the take out and the food is ready quick and the host is always very friendly. They are closed on Mondays. Parking is easy. The food doesn't taste over spiced or too spicy. They have good soups and their salt and pepper calamari is my favorite. Their specials are typically good too.
