We're pleased that we visited China Star on the recommendation of a friend. Otherwise we'd never paid attention to it, as it's in a strip mall. Now, however, we deliberately pass others to eat at this simple restaurant with excellent food, owners who pay attention to their customers, and wait staff who do their jobs very well. We generally eat vegetarian. so when we went there the first time, we tried the vegetable egg foo yong and vegetable fried rice, just to find out what they were like. So good! One huge patty, nicely sauteed, for the foo yong, which included diagonally sliced snow peas and broccoli, and had a sparklingly clear brown sauce. The fried rice also included generous amounts of broccoli and other fresh vegetables, and was not greasy. We liked these so much that we've ordered them again. Also good tofu entrees, and you can have the tofu steamed if you want. And the plate service was very attractive.

P.F. Chang's is a restaurant concept that honors the 2,000-year-old Asian tradition of wok cooking and believes in making food from scratch every day in every restaurant. With a Farm to Wok food philosophy at its core, P.F. Chang's chefs hand-roll dim sum
PF Chang's never disappoints. Lettuce wraps as good as they were 20 years ago, now with a very nice orange sauce. Entrees always flavorful (we had ginger chicken, beef/broccoli and chili beans). They do gradually change and adapt their menu, which makes it fresh. Decor is unchanged. Cost is high for Chinese, although predictable as a chain. They need to get a worker out on the sidewalk and pick up the litter around the place, as quite unkempt for SLC. Otherwise nice time.

Tuesday at 3 PM, only one other couple in the store. Typical older small strip mall store, set back a bit so it is a bit hard to see and near the street. Inside is a mix of different tables, chairs, and benches with different cute salt and pepper shakers (i.e. pigs, pandas, cats, etc). Cooking is done in a small walled/curtained off area of the store (reminds me of some of the space limited places we went to in Hong Kong), so if the odor of various cooking foods bothers you while you are eating, this may not be the place for you.As noted above, the ambience is not the best, but then it is more like what I saw in Hong Kong and had some fun touches. If you need fancy decor then there is a good place a few blocks down the road.Service, very good. She worked with us to give an excellent good experience. The lunch specials have steamed rice (which we prefer, ham fried is $2 more) and only comes with rice and soup. Menu has items that I have not seen in other area restaurants so it is a new experience that could draw you back. Prices seem a bit high and the serving sizes are a bit smaller compared to some of the mass market American-Chinese places. Wife had the Kung Pao chicken lunch which she said was good and I had the Beef Chow Fun (kind of oily). We also had an order of Pot Stickers which appeared to be the steamed version that were then fried on one side, some of the best I have had in a long time. While I think the place is very good based on one meal, I need to make a few more trips to try other items, I think it is worth the 20 minute drive to do so.

The place was packed...and for good reason. The food was delicious (each dish was individually perfect) the service was fast and so kind to us old people!Sometimes dishes taste the same as each other but not here. The walnut shrimp was over the top! I also loved the mango chicken...it was not too sweet, just right!

So I have taken dinner here at least fifteen times. Food has been consistently good. Read the negative reviews and I guess any place can have a bad day or meal once in awhile. I have not nor has my wife. Service is always friendly, food is served relatively quickly and has always seemed fresh to me. Would recommend. They also serve both Thai and Chinese food.

Utah's best Chinese restaurant. Providing a wide variety of wok prepared Chinese dishes. Featuring local produce in the summer/fall and top quality ingredients year round. If you have not been, you must, it will change your life.
I see that some folks have panned this restaurant, proving that some folks do not have any taste.Yes, plan on waiting to be seated, as locals are voting with their pocketbooks. Food is unrivaled, and we know our Asian cooking.Yes, it may cost another penny. We had lettuce wraps, egg rolls (huge) and orange chicken. Not one thing was less than the best.
